I know 2020 was a miserable year in so many ways but I thought perhaps we could cheer ourselves up with a thread about our children's achievements in 2020.
Tsunami
- gave me a hug of his own volition (previously would only either back into me or approach from behind to rest his head on me)
- learned to sleep through the night
- has managed to increase his time in school and coped with it
- learned how to be angry (just for a few seconds and very toddler like but he has allowed it to show)
- was invited to play as a member of a 4 strong team in one of his favourite sports - and was able to tell me things that would help him cope with it
Hurricane
- has managed a volunteering role as part of his Duke of Edinburgh award (and enjoyed it so much he wants to carry on)
- has been able to manage his anxiety at being out of my sight for 10 minutes at a time while in a familiar place
- been voted onto the school council (his one wish on his EHCP review last year)
- made mince pies of his own volition for a school friend of his and asked me to deliver them
- competed at County level in his favourite sport in front of a large crowd in an unfamiliar place
(Leo - am in remission and hopefully will need no further treatments. This one is an achievement for all of us; it has been very hard for Tsunami and Hurricane to manage but they have done so and I am proud of how much they have helped me when I wasn't able to do much myself.)
Come on, tell us yours ...

Leo, so glad you have managed some positives and that the boys are continuing to fight their traumatic legacy.
But above all, that you're in remission - that's the best news and achievement of all. It must have been such tough year for all of you. You are such an inspiration.

Leo - great to hear you are in remission, you must be so relieved
and well done those boys, fantastic set of achievements
for us
Simba - got the grades he deserved for his GCSEs , including a 6 in Maths, got his place at college, got his first proper job
Me - I managed to wriggle away from that wretched job I moaned about so much. My new job is Covid related so I can never get away from it but its so much better than before
and most importantly of course Liverpool won the league 🤣 YNWA, J496

Curious george won a library design an elf catcher competition... he’s never won anything before... he was beside himself Curious george also managed a fortnight in school without his ta of two years while she was self isolating... this is huge Salt went into the school salt to observe george anc couldn’t tell which child he was because he was fully engaged in peer play (this is also huge and has made me so happy! ) Squirrel has got riding trot... she’s dyspraxia and this co-ordination is great for her She’s regained confidence in herself as an artist Squirrel has grown and cut her hair for the little princess trust Squirrel has come back to school reading about 3 years above her reading level Howler has got her confidence back... after being bullied she had nothing... she’s back to saying mum I wrote a great poem at school today, or I think I could definitely be an explorer because I’m really brave
Silverback has had first words/ first steps and has learned to hold his own with his big sibs... still melts my heart to hear mama in his lovely little voice
