Just had Parents Evening tonight and I am so proud of my two boys.
After over 8 long years of struggles with schools, they are finally in a school that accepts them as they are. They understand that not all is as it seems and there is more at play than they can see. They make mistakes of course - but they own up to them and learn from them.
Tonight Tsunami's teacher said, 'I know you said about hyper vigilance, but Wow, he must be exhausted by the end of a day.' She recognised what clear, firm boundaries he needs and had gone into another class today to help model/reinforce the level of structure and boundaries he needs. She also said he was working hard and that in Maths today he wanted his LSA to put her hand up and answer a question for him. It's the first time he has put himself forward in class (even though I know it's not him directly) and a major step for him.
Hurricane's teacher said,'He's a good role model with his attitude to work'. That's never happened before! She also said she loved his quick, dry sense of humour and that he knew when to use it and when not. I can't quite believe it - a bit of self regulation and relaxed enough to show his funny side.
