Hi
We have been asked to think about taking part in a national campaign to promote adoption. It’s to raise the profile of adoption and dispel myths about who can adopt in order to try and help find more adopters for harder yo place children.
We are mixed ethnicity, as are our children, large sibling group and children with additional needs so we rock all their boxes.
I don’t know enough about what’s required yet, I’m going to have a preliminary chat...
but I’m conflicted
For us, adoption and my monkeys are the very best thing that’s happened to me. I can’t imagine a world without them in it and every day there’ll be a moment where my mind is still blown that we’ve found each other and get to be a family forever.
But, it’s not easy... or without challenge, or for everyone.
I am passionate about adoption and would live to promote it, but not sugar coat it... does that make sense?
(That’s all dependent on this not being any sort of threat to our children’s anonymity of course)

Interesting. You certainly have been inspirational here in your commitment to your children and adoption, it would be nice to share your story as it is a fabulous one. I think it is very hard to describe to non adopters, even prospective adopters how challenging, life changing, surprising, nerve wracking adoption is. It really is only through living it that one can know just how amazing and hard it is. But I think we do need more adopters and if you can tell your story and inspire others without sugar coating it then you should. You will also be acting as an affirming example to all other adopters who struggle and hang on in there So good luck in making the right decision for you.
(Obviously all checks about anonymity etc will need to be agreed and considered carefully)

Like you my own personal take is how marvelous & tuff & complex issues, but totally happy & never ever looked back, would do it again in a heartbeat....
I have however witnessed others in my adopters circle really really struggling due in my view lack of preparation or understanding of childs huge complexities & misguided hopes that the child/ren will just slot in & life will go on pretty much as before!? Sadly this has been quite a common view & the families have hit very very troubled times.... still....
You are such an inspiration & I recommend you are tuff & tell it warts an all; coz so very many only see rose tint & may well never consider the child, complexities or trauma ever, till it is far far too late iykwim.....
You are the perfect choice... well done whoever put your name forward..... Please keep us posted how it goes.... don't be tempted by anyones rose tint xxxx

Is this a Dept for Education campaign?
I've been at some interesting meetings at work recently about something similar
You would tick all the boxes and you would be great. For me it would depend on how the children's privacy is protected and how honest you are allowed to be about life

Ha! I’d forgotten about the pet demon... one of my favourite ever descriptions!!
im going to find out more, we were put forward by the sw who was squirrel’s family finder and then our sw for howler and george... she’s lovely hands down best professional I’ve come across...
not sure who’s funding it, it’s being put together by freuds pr company. I’ve got a few grebes with experience of working with them and have said they were impressed.
I want to find out more about what they want... assess the impact on our children firstly, then mr monkey and I... things are lovely but busy... not sure I need to start spinning another plate.
and see how honest I can be...
Also it has the potential to involve mixed media interviees and what to wear that will make me look 3 stone lighter... kidding... sort of... 😜
