I am sure a play date might be challenging for lots of parents, but for 'us' it holds its' own set of worries. Peewit, a loving and complex boy with a very sweet and engaging/ vulnerable/avoidant/needy/rescuing/angry/hurt nature is always drawn to other boys who, rather like his sister, are dominating, slightly bullying, charismatic and clever, his loving heart absorbs it all and I wait with baited breath to see if he can hold his own and not be completely dominated. So a play date over where I had to almost literally bite my own hand not to rush in and 'save' him but I didn't and he did hold his own, was gracious and used humour and so he saved himself. Well done Peewit! I am a wreck having managed to appear nonchalant and 'cool' for 4 hours......it's a tough job!
