We had to have our elderly cat put down yesterday.
My oldest is devastated, as it was 'his' cat and LO is totally erratic in her behaviour. It is going to be a challenging time.

We brought her back from the vet's, and LO sat in front of telly for an hour occasionally stroking her. Oldest one sat up with her all night and has taken her to the crematorium today. He wants to keep her urn. she was very old, nearly 20. She had the bluest eyes I'd ever seen on a cat, she was a Birman with an attitude. It was quite scary that as soon as she died her eyes turned a muddy grey-brown. It was really like a light had gone out. So many memories attached to her.
Thanks for caring, Moo and Serra xx

its great they have been able to do that.
I found my old cat in a cupboard a few months ago - I'd just forgotten I'd put the box away. He had been returned with a packet of forget me not seeds which I planted in big pot - it was lovely seeing them flower in the spring

Any kind of loss often seems so difficult for our children but a long time family pet must be so much harder - and very sad for you too.
Take care.
