Spent a lovely day today - an old neighbour came round with her son who is 5 1/2 ... I cooked a roast chicken dinner and got to see how fussy 5/6 year old boys can be about their food - apparently he liked roast chicken yesterday but not today:) He did eat lots of carrots though! We played Monopoly (well, I made up a game which you could play with all the pieces and the money which seemed to be okay), we read to horrible history books we have bought for LO, he examined LO's bedroom and commented that it was nice but it needed a bed (!!! bed coming Tuesday!) and then DH got out his guitar and he had a go and and we all sang along... He showed us in his cataloques what we should be buying for Christmas presents and we are planning a trip to London in December together and swimming on Saturdays once LO is settled. The newly-rearranged living room did the job fine and he says he would like to be friends with LO when he comes... maybe a sleepover (I think he liked the bedroom a lot!)... we will have to see... Big hugs when he left and we are left feeling that we can do this - at least the age-appropriate food, play, surroundings, conversation - and if intros can go half as well as this we will be happy we can build further... plus now LO has a friend around the corner with a lovely mum who seems to 'get it' pretty well without loads of explanations... Happy, smiley face

Ooooh how lovely you've had approval from a 5.5 year old so it must be cool! And how nice to have a playmate lined up for your LO. Not long to go now.

Hi annie
I think the playmate being lined up is fab! We have found that being home with mummy daddy and a two year old brother has just not been stimulating enough for Huey! He is desperate to play with his new cousin who is similar age (same school year) they are both pre School nursery age, his cousin started in sept and we initially said Huey would start jan but he is off next week after half term, a playmate in his cousin has helped him so much and we feel it will help him at school so much too!
Will your LO be going to same school as play Mate? It will be a familiar face and possibly a comfort for him'

Excellent idea to 'practise'.......I know we did a lot of that in preparation and HS...but recently been thinking of it again as now we know ages etc....it's so important to give us confidence to help overcome our 'wobbly' moments!!!!
So glad you enjoyed it! xxx
