"As of last week a new pot of 1900 per adopted child has been allocated to schools. This can only be used for that child and not put into a general pot. I can’t remember the name of it and schools are probably not aware but worth pursuing." Someone well informed in the world of adoption told me this. I cannot find any information at all. Does anyone know anything about it???

Hi, I believe they are referring to pupil premium plus which is £1900. It is obviously not new, but there is much more accountability required from school now, and shouldn't be added to general PP pot. Seems to tie in with more involvement of the L.A. virtual schools and adopted children,i.e designated member of staff or mentor for each child.
PP+ should be used for former LAC cohort, but school's are still struggling,or refusing in some cases, not to regard as part of a wider budget.
Hope I am wrong and some new funding has been been found magically out of nowhere. Bagpuss

Thanks Bagpuss. PPP is now £2300 yay! But it was 1900 so I agree it's probably that and it's just more tightly controlled. However the guidance on the website does not really say that the money has to be spent on the child who attracted it. They can get round needing to use it to support adopted children by just saying "ah yes we have an adopted child in school in needs a breakfast club so we used all the PPP for that" and Ofsted tick their box. If there are tighter guidelines it would be good to have a link - I have asked Damian Hinds - will let you know.
