I thought I'd start a thread for specialist schools so we can add to it over time as I know many of us are researching specialist schools for our AC so we can share our finds and thoughts on various schools on the one thread.
It will be helpful to others who are considering moving their children when they find their current schools are not meeting their needs etc.
Please feel free to add your own finds, giving a bit of a summary, stating age range, including links, etc.
West Heath School in Sevenoaks, Kent, rated Outstanding by Ofsted in all areas.
Is a Specialist Independent School catering for a diverse range of needs for boys and girls age 11-19, many of whom have emotional and social communication difficulties. Prior to coming to us, some of our students will have been excluded from mainstream education for a period of time. Here they find a strong therapeutic approach to learning and all students, when they arrive with us, spend time in HEART, our health, education, assessment and revitalising therapy unit, where we can fully establish the strengths and needs of each individual young person.
Therapies include CBT, SALT, OT, Complimentary Therapies, Play Therapy, Neuro Linguistic Programming
Adding a new link to this thread to watch a clip from The One Show where Carrie Grant visited Beech Lodgeas part of her campaign to highlight adopted childrens needs for specialist understanding education.
I've found this independent special school (ages 7-18), set up in 2014, which specialises in teaching adopted children and those who have suffered trauma and struggled at conventional mainstream schools .

It was set up by an adopter and has trustees who also have adopted children.
