Interesting article Daffin. Would certainly help get children diagnosed faster, particularily girls who tend to mask and not get picked up until their teens. Problem is the more kids they diagnose, they more they have to provide funding to help them get EHCP's/therapy etc and that's the problem, there isn't the money there.
In my area CAMHS are no longer doing ASD assessments as they cannot provide the funding afterwards so so many children will suffer as a result and no doubt they will blame the parents like they did with me.

The lack of funds to support special needs kids is the result of budget decisions and can (should) be changed!
I’d love it if the test was available now. I think Monkey Boy might be ASD but who knows? It might ‘just’ be developmental trauma or that and ARND. It would help us to have some clarity and it would be great if the profs had some hard and fast tests!

There are some online tests you can do to confirm your own suspicions before seeing the profs. YDD and myself did one on Aspergers. I scored 10 which was 'highly unlikely', she scored 32 which was 'highly likely'. It's just a bit of fun, but it does help to clarify what ypu are thinking.
