Monkey Boy has been getting DLA for the past 3 years but it is now up for renewal and so we have to fill the forms in again. When we originally applied we were able to provide reports from our psychiatrist, the play therapist at post adoption and the OT at post adoption. He was discharged but the PA team and obviously the long report from the psychiatrist we had for the original application is now out of date. Should ask our psychiatrist to do a fresh assessment and report. The follow up letters are not detailed enough and just say things like "doing well on Concerta please continue prescribing" etc Obviously with CAMHS being such a shambles we had to do all this privately so it would cost us several hundred pounds to get another assessment and report. I know technically he does not even need a diagnosis and I am very good at filling the form in with the level of detail needed. I just feel not having professional reports is a risk. I reappied last year for Simba. We had no updated reports apart from the EHCP. I did get a letter from SW to say that he had received funding for therapy. They added some helpful comments about how complex he was. Also got a letter from school confirming that he receives additional support for both academic and social/ASD reasons.
He was given the same award.

We had our son’s therapist write something for his DLA renewal. It was long and rambling and didn’t really say very much. His DLA was down graded. We think they’re incorrect and are appealing.
I don’t think you necessarily need a new report. Unless his diagnoses have changed.
Could you get the GP to write a letter saying ‘this child is diagnosed with x and y. See reports. Their condition is unchanged. It has a and b and c implications for daily life. Our GP will write letters like this for free - just asks for me to write some bullet points which he feeds into his letter.
