Jealous Dog needs some therapeutic interventions following a private psychiatric assessment. We can't afford to pay for therapy on top of the assessments and so we were going to apply to the ASF. However Adoption UK lists Executive Functioning Therapy as something that is not funded by the ASF. This is bonkers! Executive functioning problems are a core issue for adopted children. Does anyone know why you can get a whole list of other therapy but not this one???

I don't, but the process is administered by one of the big consultancy companies - Price Waterhouse or someone. Our PASW has complained about how the people administering the scheme know nothing about adoption, trauma or the various different therapies. They're just applying 'the rules', which change regularly.
given that they do change, maybe it might be useful to contact AUK and your local MP to find out who sets the rules and how reason can be brought to bear on this one!

Thanks Daffin. It's all presented as Rosie with the ASF but actually the list of what's in and out looks pretty random. I phoned Adoption UK and they had no idea and had not considered challenging anything which I found a bit odd - all political I suspect. We will have to get our PASW to check the rationale. Typical that the thing we need we cannot get. Seriously I need to lie in a darkened room with gently wafting aromatherapy. No chance of that though.
