And also bbc news ( sorry no link) 'I came to school to get sent home'
excluded . From an ugly statistic to reformed character.

Lots of resonance here. Things seem ok at the moment as school are quite pastoral but we are soon to fully hit puberty so we are girding our loins.

The first article reflects our experience perfectly. Except we’ve been having problems with low self esteem and school refusal since reception- and a school saying ‘he’s fine’ up to the SATS, when they finally had to acknowledge that he’s not fine. Still no EHCP, but we’re getting the documentation together to apply ourselves.

I applied for an EHC for my daughter myself. Got it first time. No problem
Have no idea why no one at school tried.

That’s good to hear.

TBH it wasn't a lot more than we had before, BUT it did give us the trump tops when we moved school as we went straight to the top of the list as we met the criteria for children who were priority pupils for admission - ie adopted/in care with EHCp disabilities
Good luck with your application. Just keep on emphasizing the struggle your child has over and above other children.
