Jealous Dog has been diagnosed with ADHD and OCD on top of his neglect and trauma related anxiety and developmental delay. The psychiatrist has recommended executive functioning coaching as part of the package of care. The assessment was done privately as our problems were not bad enough to get anything through CAMHS. He is now in free fall meltdown at school. Talks or whistles in class, forgets to hand in homework/do homework gets detention forgets to go gets overwhelmed and panic gets more detentions for not going to detentions. We are working with school and they are trying to be supportive e.g. a teacher is driving JD home after his detention as she does not want it to become a punishment or create chaos for us - pretty good. However intervention wise they are understandably out of their depth. Our plan is to ask for funding from the ASF however our daft LA discharged us last year after the last assessment of need despite our protestations and despite the fact that JD had just had a 5 day suspension from school!!! So we need to go back to requesting assessment of need, waiting for that to be done and written up, waiting for LA to apply to ASF and then waiting for ££ to come through. I fear this will be a 9-12 month process and JD will be in a terrible state by then. Does anyone have any experience on timeframes?

I made noises of stress in May 2017. A Social Worker made contact and talked through issues after viciting just me at home. She then referred to our therapy service and applied for funding. Therapy service contacted in July but I asked them to start in Sept as away for most of hols. They contacted early Sept, therapy to start first week of Oct. not sure what approach they're taking but going as whole family for first session. All seemed quite easy to get but that might because of the life threatening issues we were having. Twisty Fish' behaviour inadvertently putting Big Fish' life at risk. TF being violent and aggressive to me theeefore stopping me from monitoring B Fish and his breathing.

Thanks Esty that's where we were first time round but once Monkey Boy's ADHD was treated the threat subsided and they were not interested in helping us with our other concerns which related to behaviour in school. JD was suspended the day before they closed our case despite my contacting them and saying that he clearly needed some sort of therapy. I am not that hopefully of a quick response given no one is physically at risk this time round but maybe I should be more positive.

I contacted PAS in May, no SW until end of July, so hopeless over the summer, met potential family therapist in September, SW left, application to ASF signed off in December, but they didnt send it until January, backwards and forwards a bit, met life story therapist end March
not exactly what you would call speedy

We're on a calm one at present but haven't mentioned that too much as feel that therapy will actually be really helpful for him in this calm place. I think he will engage more rather than opt out to affect me.

I am afraid we had to wait a while too. When we went back for a second time we had an initial consultation quickly but then had to wait about 4 months to see a social worker as there was a waiting to review the assessment of need. She then had to do the review which took several meetings and decide what was needed. I suppose we got the first lot of therapy from ASF after about 7 months from initial consultation. However we have received quite a lot of support since then and not much wait between courses of therapy; so it was worth the wait.

Contacted PAS in July 2016 - and talked to them about issues. Finally got SW appointed in late November after me poking manager directly (chaos thanks to RAA formation in Yorkshire) and then things moved - we were on OT course by March after an ASF application & Assessment of Needs. Got referral to paediatrician we wanted as well - that came through in June - but that is because she is technically retired and works on Saturdays just seeing LAC & PLAC.
