Attachment Deletede have got a puppy! Think we are probably mad but have seen some positive things happening this weekend. Puppy is mainly for DH who unfortunately has been suffering with fairly severe depression and I've been seeing his mood lighten and his face light up playing with the dog our psychologist has. However, think puppy might also be good for LO. I've seen the 2 of them sitting together watching TV with her gently stroking his head. He's also taken to following her around, interested in what she's up to. We've started some sheets of paper today noting down similarities and differences between LO and the puppy. Interestingly she wrote that he had been taken away from his mummy and was probably sad. Fingers crossed this additional workload will have some positive mental health results for all of us.

Oh he's gorgeous. Pets can be really therapeutic I think, and dog walking gets you out and about.
Many moons ago when I was going through a very bad time often the only reason I got up at weekends was to feed the cat.
Interesting she has made the link about being sad.
Good call - and I'm very jealous - I would love a dog

aaawww he's cute: we got a puppy 6 months ago. Already have a dog but you forget how hard work puppies are, totally worth it though. Kitt gives genuine hugs to them and loves to "walk" the puppy (though that won't last for too much longer as whilst she's a small breed, Kitt is still small enough to be dragged along by pup). The sheer glee in her voice is great to hear. The flip side is that because she's confident with ours, I have to watch her now around other dogs to prevent over-familiarity.
It sounds like you have many rewards in store all-round. Agree with Serrakunda, great that your daughter was able to reflect.

Our dogs deserve medals. Great time to add a puppy as summer approaches! My dh wouldn't live without ours. They do keep him sane.(mostly) For those who need to have them but can't go to Borrow my Doggy site!
