Posted elsewhere about Dash's farm placement. Actually a smallholding a mere 10 or 15 ins drive from our home. We have been there for 5 sessions and he loves it but I also love it. I have always thought it would be lovely to have a few sheep. I knew someone who kept a large number of sheep which were in separate fields that he had to drive to, so I thought it might even be doable at one stage! I know I am mad. Anyway there are 16 ewes on the small holding and a few rams as well. Today we wormed them all. Dash and I were helping round them up and I was able to adminster the wormer after being shown how. Dash spray painted their tails so we knew which ones had been done already. Then they all needed their bottoms checking and fleece with poo on trimmed away. I did get to hold a sheep's leg for a while as she needed a lot done to her bottom! I LOVED it. Just being outside and learning new things and being around the animals is so therapeutic for both of us. Also learning a lot about growing veg.

I'd love some micro goats and some chickens, not allowed down the allotments though. The allotment is my oasis of peace and tranquility
Great that you and dash have found something you can share

I'm worried. The highlight of your week is trimming poo-ey fleece from around a sheep's @#%^hole? You definitely need to get out more.

It takes all sorts Corkwing It was just that we are sort of entering another world that is totally different from our normal life. And being so close to the animals....feeding the llamas a bit of carrot and all that. Its great! Also being with someone who has done what many dream of doing.....living 'the good life'......it's quite inspirational. Maybe you will find a way Serrakunda And jmk I have often wondered if Dash might be a farmhand. He definitely needs to be outside, that's for sure

Sounds wonderful. Dd1 would love it, or at least would have a few years back. I used to think she'd want to work with animal but she's now adamant she doesn't. Anyway you remind me of a wonderful afternoon I had on a sheep farm many many moons ago (when I was a volunteer with a club for children on the "at risk" register). We watched ewes lambing and it stands out as one of the best days I've ever had for some reason I've never fathomed. Maybe I should have been a farmer....!
