Has just come first in his Tumbling Competion at NDP 2 level. Only a few short cross words towards me when we first arrived but otherwise he actually enjoyed it all. This is miles removed from where he was the first time he competed where it was meltdown after meltdown.

I don't know anything about the levels, but I guess that going from 2 to 5 is a HUGE leap? (No pun intended) That's incredible!

Level 5 at 11 I understand is GB route if he works very hard! We're taking it very low key and slow as I really want him to be tumbling through all his teenage years to keep him off the streets. At the moment its the better option (to him) than being at home every night then give a couple of years his impressive 6 or even 8 pack will make it impossible to give up! Thats the plan anyway. I also get hours of respite through it. We probably wouldnt have survived the first two years without that 'guiltfree' respite! No Toko he was pushed in to football. Birth family dictated who he supported and that he would play. I've let him choose (without him realising) and he isnt that keen. He is good at football but not talented however he is talented at gymnastics. He was desparate to flip when I got him so I organised a few lowkey gymnastics sessions. It has been very hard to get him to this level in the emotional sense. They are expected to be quite autonomous at the gym club he goes to and that took over a year of me battling with the coach for him to get his needs met but I think she understands him better now. He's just started rugby at big school but we've had the discussion about injuries that could affect the tumbling. However tonight hes been rollerskating or rather throwing himself at the floor and sometimes the chances of injury have to be ignored! He uses it sometimes to show off and get friends but that is lessening. I have both ends of the spectrum - gifted physically and not so gifted physically and actually theyre a perfect match!
