I have to confess to being completely stunned by the maths. He has come so far in such a short time. I've had my issues with both schools but he has been very fortunate to get wonderful class teachers in both schools and be in supportive environments.
And he has worked very hard

P levels are below National curriculum levels. So when he came at nearly 8, Simba was not working academically at the National curriculum levels, or another way, below the level of an average 5 year old. At the end of the first year, so nearly 9, his levels were roughly the same as a 7 year old depending on the subject
Level 4 is where he should be at year 6, going into secondary. To get from below national curriculum levels to bang on where he should be is quite staggering fir he to see. He has exceeded everyone's expectations. So although level 3 is therefore below average for his age, the progress he's made in three years is quite impressive,
His biggest gain was in the first year when the leap forward was quite dramatic. Since then his progress has been slower but steadily moving forward
Whether you set any store by SATs results is another debate, but at the very least he is being measured the same as his peers so he isn't doing too badly at all !
