My DD has had some difficult times and we started home educating because of school refusal (when she was 8, she's now 13). She has gone through times of not wanting to go out (except one or two things such as Girls' Brigade where she got the attendance prize *again* this year That was tricky for all of us but we managed somehow. Recently my friend down the road has given my DD a little 'job' walking their puppy three days a week at lunchtime. DD earns some extra pocket money doing that but she would do it for nothing! She loves it and it gives her some responsibility and independence. But the big piece of good news today is a friend invited her to go to a drama club with her. And despite being very nervous she went this evening (at first said 'I'll go next week') She enjoyed it and there are other girls she knows who go. They do LAMDA exams and if she carries on (early days!) some grades are equal to GSCE or UCAS points....handy for home ed I am thrilled!
