Day five: 8am at FC again! Got BB up and gave him his bottle. Once again he refused to take breakfast from either DH or I Not sure if it is because he could hear FC upstairs. Really wanted to try and get him to take it as in a couple of days he won't have an option other than me or DH! After breakfast shenanigans our SW came round for a visit to see how everything was going, she seemed happy with things. Got baby ready to go home for the day again. Bless him he fell asleep in the car and when he woke up he didn't make a sound. Once again he ate his lunch without any problem then we took him to the park for a little while so I could test drive our pushchair and get some fresh air for BB. He slept for 2 hours today for his afternoon nap so seems to be settling ok in his new cot. Had to give him his dinner at 4:30pm as he needed to be back at FC's for 7pm so we knew the traffic would be worse than it was yesterday being as it was now a working day! Wasn't sure if he would eat his dinner that early as he doesn't usually have it until after 5pm but he ate it all and had a bottle. Got him ready for bed and off we went to fight the traffic. Took us just over an hour and a half and got him back 10 minutes early. Not feeling quite so tired today although was probably still in bed before 10!! Can have a bit of a lay in tomorrow as don't need to be at FC until 10am for our review meeting!

Sounds like it's all going well Ladybug. So glad he met Lollipop and that they got on. Ready made babysitter for further down the line. Am not surprised he's off his food a bit, has probably picked up that somethings about to change. I woildn't worry too much about it as long as he is drinking lots. He will, probably start eating once he gets used to all the change. Love that he christened his changing mat and being a boy, make sure his appendage Iis always pointing downwards when changing otherwise you might get one in the eye. When is he coming home for good? (Oh and meant to say he has amazing eyes)

So pleased things are going well. Don't stress about the feeding - my first HV told me "food's just for fun until they are one." Most of their nutrients still come from their milk feeds at that age.
And bottle feeds are great for bonding.

Day six: review meeting at FC's everyone was happy with intros and how well BB had started to bond. So officially we can now bring our BB home!! We had a suitcase full of clothes and a bag of toys plus a ride on car! Our car boot was full!! Whilst DH went to get the car from the hotel I sat and cried because I looked at FC and I could see she was upset. Anyway we all ended up in tears! We gave FC a thank you card and some flowers then all hugged and it was time to go home. The cat in the photo didn't come with BB but the rest did!!

Wow, so amazing. Congratulations. We too all ended up in tears when we brought LO home. It's such an emotional time for everyone, but knowing your LO has been loved within a family is so precious. Happily, we are still in touch with our FCs and in fact meeting up with them this weekend.
Now, tomorrow you can tell us how many times you looked in on him when he was sleeping!!

Huge congratulations! Another surprise for me, reading that your review meeting was on the final day (or am I reading that wrong!) As a FC there's absolutely NO WAY I'd agree to that - I like my last day to be brutally quick.
Please, please remember to text your FC tomorrow to let her know how Babybug slept. She probably won't sleep at all tonight.
(Your picture made me smile as I send my children with at least three times that amount - the last one is still coming back for things now, three months later!)
Enjoy tonight x

Babybug came home yesterday, I was just writing a day behind and I ink I remembered everything correctly! NMT I text FC last night, as I was shattered and far too tired to talk and still emotional and assumed she would be too, to let her know how he's day had been and then I phoned her today to let her know how he had slept and what time he woke etc... She was so grateful I almost cried again!!
So our first day at home was tiring for us and Babybug, he fell asleep on DH a couple of times resting his head on DH's shoulder, it was so sweet. BB ate the lunch FC had packed for him we then popped to the park for some fresh air and to test drive the pushchair with BB in it. No major disasters with pushchair thankfully. There was only a short afternoon nap, around 45 minutes. Dinner, bath time and bedtime went ok other than only drinking 2oz of milk but he was so tired. He woke up when I went to bed at 10:45, his cot is in our room, I got him up and sat on the bed with him and he kept putting his head on my shoulder in between jumping up and down (he loves jumping) DH made up a 4oz bottle which BB drank and went straight to sleep one he was back in his cot. He stirred a couple of times during the night but didn't wake up however I was awake at about 6 and managed to do some washing and other bits before BB woke up at 7. He was all smiles and big eyes. We had our first weekly home visit today with our SW and also BB's SW they both said that if they didn't know BB came home yesterday they wouldn't have been able to tell!!

Can not believe in the morning Babybug will have been home a week! He really is such a happy little boy and very easy to care for however the last couple of days he has been he has been a bit whingey, runny nose, drooling and red cheeked. Poor boy has been upset too, no tears but making crying noises (not the whole time). He has only woken up twice during the night the first time was on his first night at 10:45 and again last night/this morning at 2:30 and both times he refused to drink his bedtime bottle. He usually wakes up around 6am but a couple of days I left him when he woke up and he fell back to sleep again and woke at 8:30!!! All seems to be going ok, he holds his arms up to be picked up by us just a shame that he seems to be teething and not taking Calpol when it is needed.

Morning Ladybug, Get yourself over to the adopters board - you are one now Glad to hear BB is settling in. Does sound like a mixture of grieving and teething. You can get a medicine dummy type device that you put the calpol into and he sucks the medicine through if you are really struggling to get him to take it.

Definitely sounds like teething - best cure is lots of cuddles!
Are you using a syringe with the Calpol? Make sure you squirt it into his cheek, not the middle of his mouth (will just spit it out). It's also easiest if you tip his head back a bit.

I know JMK, I was in two minds as to whether to add to this thread or start a new one on the adopters board! ?
