Little man was placed a year ago and has always refused anything nurturing. He stopped letting us feed him 2 weeks into placement, stopped being compliant to holding etc. Just in the last 2 weeks he has finally allowed us to cuddle him. He lays in my arms while I sing a silly song to him, it's always on his terms but that's okay. He will just keep saying 'ada' - again - and letting me hold him, rock him and sing. It brings tears to my eyes, I wish, I so wish I'd been able to do that when he was a new born.

Snooz came home at 4 months and even then wouldn't be held for very long, he much preferred his activity mat or bouncy chair.
Very gradually he allowed more contact, I used to lay on the floor and let him climb on me.
These days I think he'd be permanently attached to me if he could.
So, well done you......lovely stuff xx

Thanks all. Things remain tough day to day so things like this feel restorative and gives me strength.

It's a golden moment when they first really, honestly let you nurture them. Treasure the good moments :-)
