Hi all As most of you know (as I haven't stopped going on about it) our intros started today... Well what can I say it was magical. The lead up has been rather stressful as it is Huey's birthday during intros and there has been much a debate about where they should be and when on that day which will be day 8 of intros out of the planned 10 Anyway interagency meeting took place and it became rather evident very early on that all the social workers agreed that the boys should be with mummy and daddy on day 8 all day and evening but that we will share the birthday tea on neutral ground with FC. So.... Day 1
After the interagency meeting it was pedal to the metal round to the FC's she had left 10 mins before us, but when we got there Huey and Dewey weren't there The social worker support had taken them to soft play whilst FC was at the meeting. So we sat there patiently waiting... When the FC saw them pull back up outside she went out to greet them... We heard her telling the boys "guess who I have got in the house"... "Your new mummy and daddy". Well that was it Huey was very excitable. He wanted to run in but Dewey wanted him to wait. They came in and we were greeted with "your our new mummy and daddy, is that box there for us" haha - they had spotted the build a bear boxes. And lets face it who is interested in a new mummy and daddy when there are build a bears on offer We spent 2 amazing hours playing lego, ball, and erm 2 and 3 year olds have taken a liking to brand new iphone 5's. We got some amazing photos, and repeated hugs. It was hard explaining we would have to go as Huey got a little clingy and wanted to come with us but we will back tomorrow lunch as promised. Dewey is younger and doesn't understand what is going on as well but he seemed happy playing with us and having hugs, regularly asking if mummy was his friend. Much reassurance is going to be needed here I think but so worth it. Daisy and Donald are grinning like the Cheshire cats but exhausted due to NO sleep last night. Im off for a nice hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream before bed! Rock and Roll. Soon it will be a large glass of Vino I am sure. For the 2nd instalment I will be back tomorrow xx

Thanks for this, brings our intros and first meeting flooding back! It was just over 2 years ago for us, but that seems so long ago now. Enjoy and savour it, it gets really hectic very quickly from now one, but worth every moment. Hope it continues in this way.

Ooohhhh Daisy Thanx for posting I have been thinking about you all..... WoW your boys reaction sounds exactly the same as baa & skweek's...... Baa was very very excited & really seemed to 'get' what was happening.... He too hated me leaving him each day..... Be warned baa got more & more clingy as the week went on.... Not wanting me to leave.... But on move in day it went perfectly he was very ready to go, he had said farewell to f/c & so hated my leaving each day that when he was told he could come too he jumped at the chance..... In honesty we have never looked back.... I wondered initially if he really had ' grieved ' for f/c but I think he had & he bonded well....amazingly he really 'got' it...... Skweek too had his 2nd birthday soon after move in day.... Like Dewey he was very little & followed his big bro... But he deffo understood what was happening.... I think it helped that big bro was ready to embrace me as his new mummeeee.....
Sooo exciting first new family's intros on our wonderful new shiny friendly forum......
Please keep posting.... Lucky lucky you a wonderful wonderful time.....

DAY 2 GUYS...

Post by daisy1985 on Oct 1, 2013 19:52:27 GMT
Doh pressed reply by accident...
Well day two - we arrived at FC at 1:30pm just after lunch - I had to go for flu jab so I dropped Donald off and nipped to the docs... only to find they had cancelled flujab clinic - gggrrrrr I was missing valuable time with my boys for this... oh well mad dash back
Huey and Dewey decided to hide from me to make me jump they both ran for a hug and Huey was quick to tell me how much he had missed me. He had apparently asked repeatedly from waking up until we got there when we would be coming and had we forgot. Yes there is some anxiety there and we are aware this could continue for some time. Deweys favourite saying at the moment is "Mummy are you my friend" my reply is constant "Of course I am Dewey me you daddy and Huey are best friends and a little family"
We went for a short walk today just 15-20 mins but they loved it, we had a fall which resulted in a grazed knee but a magic rub made it all better.
Tonight however was HURRENDOUS... after tea me and FC bathed the boys whilst Donald and FC hubby sat downstairs, bathtime was fun and we got them ready for bed. I then explained Mummy had to go now but would be back in the morning in time to give them breakfast... and all hell broke loose. I had a 2 year old holding on to my neck and a 3 year old crying those words cut deep when you know you have to leave despite the cries of "mummy please don't go". They were tired and I felt like a cr@p mummy and felt guilty leaving the FC to deal with it. In the end the FC had to let Huey ring me for a chat so I could promise promise We would be back in the morning. Donald looked up at window as we were going and all he could hear was "Daddddddyyyyyy in between sobs"
So I cried all the way home once out of sight, and fell asleep for an hour on the sofa once home. The FC did text me to say all is calm and they are sound asleep. just glad they settled.
Very excited for tomorrow we get to do breakfast and lunch and a trip to the local park!
Daisy x

Sorry guys and gals for not posting yesterday but i am literally lay in bed typing this! I am WHACKED to say the least!
No disrespect to any adopters who fall into this bracket but I had listened to our sw for weeks telling us age was on our side for intros, we are young (27 and 32) active and lively!!! Erm not quite how I would describe myself right now! Tired, grumpy and aching in muscles I didn't even know I had!
Now I thought that I would rediscover all my muscles by purchasing a large 10ft trampoline 2 months before placement, but it would seem not! The grumpiness is nothing to do with intros or my gorgeous boys but is a side effect of tiredness! Haha!
Anyway I'm digressing
Day 3, we arrived at 8am, dressed and fed Huey and Dewey! Dewey was quick to ask mummy to sit with him so daddy automatically drew his attention to Huey! We then decided to tackle soft play! We went to their local one which is also our local one luckily and they loved it! Mummy's biggest fear was getting my bum stuck on one of the slides but hey my 1 and half stone weight loss has put paid to that and the boys loved mummy enjoying the fun with them! We acted as a tag team for the most of it to give each other 5 mins rest! Lunchtime went without a hitch yes I'm Proud to say that we have the best foster carers ever and our boys are fantastic none fussy eaters! Although we have established a couple of food issues with Dewey which I'm sure can all be dealt with in time!
Huey made sure I was aware I was NOT getting a hug when I left that day as I left him alone on day two! Yes It hurt but I just reassured by saying he was with FC and not alone and that we had to go to sleep so we would have lots of energy for today! Haha I did get hugs as it was when we were going and I realised the day before upset was probably our fault, so day three saw lots of explaining about where we would all be and when!
Day 4 saw lunch time then a trip (in the rain) to the local park to feed the ducks and to play! I took a healthy snack and we played for ages. Before me Dewey took a liking to the new fountains at this park! Yes you guessed it he ran through them, this 2 year old is a little dare devil, I can foresee many a sleepless night over him in the future!
Then came teatime, the FC made us all potato hash, it was lovely and me Donald Huey and Dewey ate together alone in the kitchen;
I don't want this to sound like heaven despite us still being on cloud 9 boundaries have been pushed but in the main we are waiting for the 'bubble to burst' we know it can't run this smoothly!
We bathed and did bedtime routine tonight and Huey settled in minutes after his story, Dewey on the other hand took a little more persistence it was hard listening to him cry but I kept on with FC routine and it paid off 20 Mins and fast asleep!
Huey keeps reminding us its only 2 more sleeps until he gets to visit his new home! He is so excited! So with all that in mind and the review meeting tomorrow most would expect move in day to be moved forward myself included, however I feel we need to stand a ground at review tomorrow! It's Huey's birthday 2 days before planned move in day, and bringing move in day forward could clash and cause future problems!
We have to Look at the bigger picture, Huey is looking forward to having FC's son at his birthday (who is also adopted) and the FC's son is looking forward to being there, so I don't want to cause any upset!
We will see how review pans out tomorrow I suppose!
Anyway my eyes are drifting so I'm signing off!
Take care all, good luck to anyone approaching intros, go for it to anyone seriously considering adoption and reminisce on your own intros to all adopters reading this!
Daisy! Xx

Awe that is encouraging to hear
We are expecting regression and kick off at some point as we have been told to but quite frankly the FC doesn't think we will, she said they seem to be transissioning fine and coping well!
Time will tell I suppose but all we can do is hope for the same as you mr VLM

We had a little bit of regression from our oldest (4 at placement). Lots of tantrums as she struggled to cope with feelings nd loyalties. Patience patience patience. That and lots of love and affection, its all good here.

Yay daisy...... You are doing fantastically..... Especially coping with rain!!! Great news about soon to visit your house.... Baa was the same couldn't wait( & kept asking ) to see his new house & bedroom..... They loved finding their favourite toys laid out for them..... They played & laughed & explored.... Our bubble never really broke either.... A few hiccoughs but all in all seamless transition...... Happy happy times..... Thanx so much for sharing......

Mumchkinsmum it's def a good idea if your little one will be old enough to understand. Simple step by step repetition has worked wonders for us since our day 2 blunder!
The review meeting this morning got a little tense! Our sw so wanted to bring move in say forward! I hear you all shouting fab!? Well we were asked and our hearts screamed yes but heads stood firm on no! It's Huey's birthday on Tuesday and so we didn't want the day either side to be moving day to create a bit of space around it with moving! So we have agreed we Will stick to thurs unless the boys get distressed in which case we can have wed as a back up plan
I'm currently on my 15 min tag team break! We have been at soft play for 3 hours now! We have survived meatballs and pasta. A VERY smelly nappy, 3 hours of bouncing and a session with Jo-jingles. For anyone not acquainted with Jo jingles he is a musical soft boy who does lots of actions "hey Jo jingles he's a happy fellow! He's all dressed up in red and yellow" yes I know I'm sad for remembering the words but the boys loved it!
Anyhow we are 2/3 of the way through a grueling 12 hour and its wonderful! The review meeting was a drag but the boys behaved impeccably showing their attachments so far
Anyhow still all good and positive on this front, however it hasn't stopped the sw trying to warn us for the millionth time out bubble is bound to burst
For now I'm happy it's floating around still in tact!
Daisy xx

Sounds as though it is going really well, and good for you sticking to your guns about moving day. Not too sure why the SWs want to change, much better---as you say----to have a days gap between birthday and moving (the day after birthday is soooo often a rather 'nowty' day. Great tip about telling Los what you will be doing when you leave them, and reassuring that you will be back the next day----and when. Looking forward to hearing about the birthday, then moving day.
