DD bought me a coffee in Costa yesterday, and we sat and caught up with a month's worth of each other's news. It was really good to see her, and just to feel connected. She was pleased to see me, and we'd met because we wanted to, not because 'we had to'. I had pulled the plug on routine contact, and had to trust that she would get in touch when she wanted to see me. This is a first, and it came much sooner than I had dared hope, so I am truly grateful. Who knows how things will work out going forwards? She gave me a nice bunch of carnations, which I took home and installed on my kitchen windowsill. Then I sent her a picture, and had a nice, short, positive text conversation. For now, I am contented

Awh Damson I'm so pleased for you.

Nice to hear that, Damson. Off to Costa myself this afternoon. Ds2 has swimming lesson but we have to hang around the town centre after school, till its time for lesson as not worth going home and back. So it's off to Costa for our regular cuppa (and muffin for ds2 when he can wangle one out of me! )

Oh that is lovely to read, so positive.
Our regular visits/stays are feeling very stale and ugly. No one is making AD come but we are convenient (DH gets up at 5.30am Saturday morning to give her a lift to work!) and she is just doing what she wants with no thought to everyone else in the household. The fact she said she is not coming next weekend was a relief, so perhaps a break will have some positive impact for us too....

Hmmm. What would happen if kindly DH didn't volunteer to take her to work on Sundays? A break could be good news indeed.

Ah well - in the interest of encouraging independence Sunday morning lifts have been withdrawn (Saturday is the early start one). Now she goes out Saturday evening and returns after work Sunday for tea!
Current behaviour means that you don't feel inclined to do anything for her so in her warped way she is getting what she wants "see I told you, you don't like me!"
Don't let me take away from the bit of success you are having at the moment though, you did post in the Good News section! We just keep hanging in there don't we?!!
