Got to mention Flylady (I am a lapsed Flybaby) one of her mottoes is 'never see dirt again' I think the idea is , hoover or dust because it is the day for housework, not because you can see it needs doing!
I have cleaners and one of them said my house is her favourite. I think its the job satisfaction! She really sees the fruits of her labours. She also told me about a lady they clean for who has OCD and her house is SPOTLESS! They have to try to find things to do and then she might phone up complaining she found a fingerprint.
So ladies, at least we are sane (sort of!)

Yup. Sane-ish. And sighted. The only way I'd never see dirt again, is if I went blind.
Nice idea, though, if someone else would magic it all away. I love the idea of a cleaner in theory, but found myself cleaning like mad before she arrived because I was embarrassed! Sacked her/ let her go and feel much more relaxed about it all again!

The great thing with flylady is that you never fail, just start again! The problem with flylady is that you still actually have to do housework. My whole life I hoped to marry a writer or a poet (he needs to get your inspiration from somewhere, I'm sure he get it from cleaning and decluttering), so he could be my flyboy. This never happened so this is the reason why I have to do a 27 fling bin (or whatever it is called) before visitors arrive.
My children ask who is coming if I start cleaning frantically .

I am so glad that my DH is not bovvered about mess, and regularly bales me out, especially if visitors are coming.
However I did become cross one time when he said that the reason there is so much mess is because things don't have homes. I said look around coats on sofa...we have coat hooks, books on floor, we have book shelves, look a week's worth of ties lying about. You have 2 tie racks! clothes, clean or dirty...we have linen baskets, we have wardrobes and drawers.
I was NOT happy. But with Flylady...no whining allowed!! She is very good and I have been brainwashed because I remember these sayings.
'You can do anything for 15 minutes' I often set the timer :-)
Its a 27 fling boogie Pluto! And yes I get asked who is coming when I tidy up too!

With us it is rushing around that causes the mess. Should leave enough time to clear up before we rush out somewhere. And getting home is a bad time for not putting things away that we bring in/take off. Drives me mad!

Chotimonkey you will love fly lady. www.flylady.netI think it was Pluto that introduced us to her. I never signed up for the emails but I do remember 2 top tips. Always get dressed & have clear & shinny sink. I sent the link to my friend over the road & we send each other pictures of of shinny sinks. I have only managed to send her 3 in a year We are so untidy that I can't have a cleaner as it's the stuff that's the problem. AS is much tidier and I think as he gets older it will bug him. My house is such a pit i wouldn't know where to start with my confessions My aunt told me a story of her friend who had a cleaner but after 2 weeks the cleaner refused to come again as the house was such a mess not dirty but messy. The shame ! Oddly I am a tiny tiny bit bette since youngest started full time school & I'm back working.

. flylady.net chotimonkey is a motivational website for housework. I may never get past her " shine the sink" and " getting dressed to shoes" but even those are helpful !

Upside of broken foot. No one can expect me to clean. No guilt or embarrassment about dust balls. Downside? Wish I'd had time to give it a quick zap before I broke said foot. It looks like a tip now. What's it going to look like when I'm back on my feet. I may institute a visitor policy. No flowers or chocs. 10 minutes cleaning before you leave.

My cleaners are used to my mess and they do a bit of tidying as well but I do try to tidy up before they come if I can because otherwise I am paying for tidying not cleaning. It keeps me on my toes. I always clean the loos before they come and empty the bins in the loos as well. They do the bathroom and shower room which otherwise wouldn't really get cleaned that often I suspect (I mean the actual bath and shower. Its always gleaming when they leave. They also mop the kitchen floor which is another job which I rarely get around to despite having a steam mop.
For a long time I said I couldn't justify the expense but DH said it was fine. Now I am convinced.
I also just the once had a decluttering lady visit for 5 hours. that was before I had cleaner because I kept saying to DH its the mess not dirt that it is the problem here and cleaners won't do that. Or so I thought.
We decluttered master bedroom and made great progress. She also did a tour of the house and made suggestions.

Have never been able to afford a cleaner myself. My sister has one and always kills herself cleaning the house before they come? ? What's that about?

Well jmk in my thinking if I am rushing around tidying (and usually it is a rush and I feel under pressure and sometimes wonder if its worth it) at least I have a deadline for doing it. If the children have left the loos dirty I don't leave that for the cleaners to clean, I always check them. Otherwise they see us in our natural state :-(

Bucket water with bleach.
Soap and water kills ebola,so I'm sure it is good enough to kill a sniffel.

Late night tesco shop for tomorrow's lunchboxes. Nearly asked the bored looking check out women if they were playing eye spy but thought better of it.
