Had a pretty horrendous couple of days with Sprat. I was thinking, oh, it's great that he has a weekend away so that we can recover from it. Then I thought, I seem to remember that's how I felt last time they went away. So maybe we're in a circular argument. Post adoption arrange weekends away. We say, "Great, we'll have a break" and book it. Kid gets stressed about going away. We need a break to get away from the stress. That works, but because of the stress about going away, we haven't got away from the daily life stress. And post adoption arrange another weekend away... Attachment Deleted

Maybe THEY should organise a childminder in YOUR house so the 2 of YOU can go away for the weekend . That's real respite!

Had a really good time. Dropped the kids off. Kermit remembered that she'd forgotten to bring any coffee bags: she's fussy about her burnt beans. So we dropped into Tesco to pick up some, and some soft drinks. Went to a lovely pub, but they had a party in so they couldn't feed us. Booked in for the next night and headed back to Tesco. Got some hot chicken, which we ate in the car. Dropped lots of juices down my shirt and hadn't brought another one. So went back to Tesco and bought me a new t-shirt. After waiting for ages outside the changing rooms which all claimed to be full, but had in fact been locked. Finally got to the hotel. Got up the next morning to discover that Kermit had forgotten to pack any clean underwear or a hairbrush. Looked like a ginger version of Kate off the Great British Bake Off. Had breakfast and slobbed. Well, after about seven or eight sausages, half a dozen eggs, bacon, hash browns and waffles with butter and maple syrup, there's not a lot else you can do! Didn't really get up until about 2:30 when we headed to the beach. Absolutely fantastic light with shafts of sunlight through black clouds. Attachment DeletedBack to the pub for a really nice meal. Got woken up by the care home ringing to say that they were about to report Mackerel as a missing person, but he did wander back about 45 minutes later. So didn't sleep brilliantly. Brilliant breakfast again this morning then off to a car boot sale and craft market. Sat out in a cafe and enjoyed a drink of elderflower in the sun, and loved the sun through the bottles. Attachment Deleted Picked up the kids. They're really tired so Sprat was pretty vile to Fairy Basslet in the car home. Hey, ho. I love it when things go wrong - like spending half the weekend in Tesco. Really gives us something to laugh about!

Oh that sounds lovely Corkwing....lovely photos too.
What we all want to know though, is whether any more of your house had fallen down in your absence We spent a night away on Friday (with Dash but still!) and went to a beach on Saturday. And I forgot my hairbrush too, but I looked like Diana from the Bake Off.
This is where we went

not camping of course! (just in case GSH reads this, she will think we have taken leave of our senses!) but that was the beach. Dash lagged behind beachcombing at one point so we even had some uninterrupted conversation and then he fell asleep in the car...ditto! Violet stayed with a friend so we didn't have to talk to her either!!

Wow! What a great beach! As far as I can tell, no more of our house dropped off over the weekend.

Now if Tesco's diversified into B&Bs kermis could get everything she's forgotten via room service
