Dd1 had her first sleepover with a friend last night - at our house. I am pleased to say all went well (better than I expected!) and they have now set off for another friend's bowling party. It's just so nice to see her having a good friend and managing something so normal for other children. She has never been able to sustain a close friendship for long in the past but has known this girl for a year now. Think it helps that they do not go to the same school so usually only see each other once a week.
Also dd2 managed to contain her jealousy (she has no issues with friendships but still get jealous if dd1 has a friend round) - we watched a film with her and she went to bed quite happily afterwards. Only this morning she has a minor wobble about it but friend painted her nails and lent her some of her DS games so that made dd2 happy.
Also the friend managed to get dd1 to dress nicely and wear her hair in a becoming style (normally she scarpes it back into a messy ponytail)and she looks like a proper teen (ooo...er...!)

That's lovely to hear. Its so nice when they manage friendships more positively. Our dd has always struggled and we are also beginning to see improvements. The highlight for us was a few months ago when we organised a bowling party for her birthday with a small group of girls. For the first time ever everybody genuinely wanted to come and had a great time. We have also noticed that she has had the same few friends for some time amazingly without constant falling out, so hoping it lasts!
