My youngest son has been selected for national competition in one of his sports! Scary, exciting, wonderful!
Dh and I would never have produced a gifted sportsman ourselves: it would have been a genetic impossibility. But adoption has given us this life, so unexpected, one we feel so ill equipped for in some ways (though our love, support, endless ferrying to endless practices and competitions and determination to be there for him do make up for our congenital unsportiness).
It feels like getting through that small hole in the wall into a world of pure magic, one I would never have been able even to peek through without adoption.

That is great! I get a lot of pleasure watching my son do lines of cartwheels ( he is so not a genetic relative to me, I couldn't even manage a handstand as a child...).
