AD is staying with us at the moment and decides to use her bike because “I have to spend all my time walking to places when I am here”. Fostercare is in the middle of nowhere and requires lifts to the train station all the time but anyway……
Day 1 – AD returns from bike ride and is entrenched in bedroom
Me: I see you chose not to wear your helmet this afternoon, I guess you are aware of and prepared to take the consequences should something happen. AD: Well I don’t cycle fast, not like my brother who is mad on his bike. (Trying to deflect!) Me: It is not really about how fast you are going, there is other stuff around you. (Departs bedroom)
Day 2 AD: I am off into town on my bike and I am going to wear my helmet this time. (Yes, she actually said this!) Me: Oh ok, that sounds like a good idea.
Wish it was always this easy…….
