Don't apologise Amberle, we all remember how busy you are when LO comes home. There's no way I could have been on the boards much when my two were little. Just pop in when you can and give us a little update, otherwise we worry about people when they disappear completely like some have. Enjoy getting to know your LO and introducing her to your family. Dancing Queen is my Mums favourite song and every time I hear it mentioned I think of her, as she always sings it and dances round the kitchen.

So a very quick round up of the last month..in no particular order, and I have probably missed stuff, but you get the idea..lol. And although these are things that happened, I can honestly say that this has been the best thing ever..
Week one.. Spent the week in complete daze if I am honest, everything was just routine.did not want to mess anything up. OMG this really had happened. In this week rash appeared on DQ..panic set in, she's allergic to the cats, I have fed her something she's allergic..OMG what have. Done wrong..you know the usual lack of sleep crazy mind stuff..lol. Anyway DQ has mild eczema, started to clear within a day or so of using cream. Phew..sigh of relief..had a book, was writing very thing down, what she ate, time she slept, mood, absolutely everything. SW visited said we were doing great, and understood why the book but really don't need to..it helped me feel a little in control of things I can tell you.frgot to mention by end of 1st week..2 more teeth.
Week two..DH back at work, outside I was smiles inside I was OMG can I really do this by myself..again this week flew by, DQ was just a delight to be around..still can't believe my luck.sw still very happy ...god I need some sleep.end of week 2 all back teeth now through, DQ has had a growth spurt, and no longer looks like a baby, more a small toddler..
Week 3. HV came round, was happy but concerned about her eyes..( she had slight squint in 1 eye). Explained all been checked by optician, eye expert etc..no one is concerned, eyesight is fine, and it is improving as she is growing. No HV insists its both eyes and is referring her to specialist..bit annoyed, but hey if it means we get a 3rd opinion not going to argue..spoke to SW they are happy nothing wrong, but lets get another opinion. SW is amazed at change in DQ, height, another couple of teeth 7 now in total in 3 weeks. But DQ still chilled and just going with the flow.. Met auntie, grandparents, and some friends on different days and loved the attention..was all smiles and laughter..everyone fell in love. Tough people she is all mine!!!
Week 4. Did a day trip out all by myself this week, finally this felt normal, although packing lunch, toysm clothes, nappies etc for a day is like a military operation..good job I am an organised type person..lol Lac review this week, everyone very happy, I even was awake enough to follow some if the conversation we are moving forward.
Things I have learnt in the month..
Sleep is overrated Whatever DQ ate before she came here, will change not my fault, just part of growing up. What I thought being a mummy would be like is no where near as great as it actually is.
Things DQ has learnt this month
You can bite with teeth, and pull hair and you can get a reaction from your mummy. Lots of people play with me and buy me loads of nice things I can screech so loud, that the dogs can hear it. I can say stwaberries, shoes and no. I have learnt to kiss mummy. I am a daddy's girl, but mummy will do when he is not around..lol
In summary...yes it's tough, adjusting but no I would not change it for the world.
Xxx

The best bit is to hear you say it's better than you imagined - brill x

And so here we are at the end of another month. DQ now been with us 8 weeks.it has been an eventful month, but I can honestly say this is soo what/ who I am meant to be. The lack of sleep, the loss of memory, the permanent food splodges on my clothes..yes that's motherhood. Everyone was concerned about the move from the corporate world to me being a mummy. I knew in my heart of hearts, this is who I am and have known for a very very long time, I used work as my escape, focus etc...and just to add to those that have not quite fallen asleep yet.. This job..being a mummy, is far more physically, emotionally and any other word I should use ( sorry lack of sleep means can't think straight) than any project deadline, company drama, work pressure that i have ever experienced. But a zillion percent ( yes I know you only go to 100) but I am just highlighting the fact this job is soo much more rewarding..can you tell I love it..lol. Anyway here's month 2 round up.. So DQ had her mmr jabs this month, OMG she screamed the place down, but a little milky bar and the screaming stopped, 2 weeks later DQ got ill, stopped eating, drinking for 5 days, health visitor not overly concerned, but we ended up at doctors, doctor did not appear that fussed, that night rash appeared called both of the above and never got a return call. So DH,, DQ and I saw it through on our own, temperatures, rash, no sleeping..6 days in and a breakthrough a little mouthful of food, 5 days later back to drinking, nibbling bits here and there..DQ SW a godsend, she was on the phone / visited all the time, offering advice, support etc..has kids herself so could advise a bit..anyway bank holiday I would say almost back to normal, although she has got used to waking every few hours at night, and this continues..although today had 4 hrs uninterrupted sleep.bliss. But is still refusing a daytime nap, although again yesterday did go down for an hour..so you never know...another few weeks and she could be back to normal.
So that's been my month, not very exciting to the outside world, but it has brought the 3 of us closer than ever, DQ is still a daddy's girl, but now I get hugs, and the same smile daddy gets..you know the one that melts you every-time she does it..
So the weekend just gone, met a few more family members, a few more family members smitten, I just love my life...
And this month, we get to apply for the AO...will try and be on more this month, but for the next week, I will be doing catch up, on all the things I missed in August, mainly sleep...lol.
Hope everyone is well, sorry the above is a dull read, but that's my month in a round up..although to finish on a little lighter note..words for the month include..
Tracti For tractor Car Ban for van Mine, lol
And from this weekend everything is the number 6..,

I can't believe how quickly the time has gone. My BD got German Measles a short while after having her MMR jab so I know what a nightmare that can be. It will only reinforce to DQ that you are her mummy! Thanks for giving us the update.

A natural...mmm not so sure, lol. Reading on here people seem a lot more relaxed/ organised than I am. But I am doing my best and it definately is who I am..although I really need to get organised more with food. Also play groups round here appear to not cater for her age group..it's very bizarre, as if she was under 6 months we would be fine, and over 3!! And now sure start has been taken over by action for children, I am advised they will not be running toddler groups but parenting classes, so I am going to need to travel to surrounding areas which seems crazy and costs money which we are trying to keep spending down...arrrrgggh.
Anyway I digress thank you all for your kind words, it means a lot..xx

Hi Amberle, Just a thought ... have you tried churches in your local area as they quite often run baby/toddler/parent groups. Lolapola x PS: No need to be a church-goer, they are generally run for the community

Hi amberle We found a lot of lo groups by looking at notice boards in and around church halls, child friendly cafés and sports centres... Once you find a couple other mums tell you about others, a lot don't advertise as they are teeny... Ur lo is around 14 months isn't she? There are also franchises ... My kids enjoyed Tumbletots at that age... I did too... Child led and it's you with her on all equipment, v trust building, sane for swim sessions (most pools have toddler sessions were they get toys out in baby pools and again you and dq can play together in the water Other franchises we've liked are hartbeeps and tatty bumpkin they all cover different age groups from 6 months- 4 Hope it helps.., it really helped me and squirrel when squirrel came home to set up a weekly routine to give us a bit of structure... Also helped me as a couple of sessions a week where I didn't have to think of how to entertain her where a lifeline!!! Gave me ideas of things to try at home and I made friends. Felt a bit like the first term at uni where I talked to everyone at first and had the same coversatopn a hundred times, then started to narrow it down to a couple if favourites in each group. Our kids asp loved messy play and a small well fun music group (general free for all toddler groups were a bit overwhelming at first... Too noisy etc) Hope you find something's you like xx Disclaimer we didn't do all of these at once... It's just with the age ranges of my wee ones means I have been doing toddler groups for nearly three years that's a lot of sitting on the floor singing clapping songs and not realising I have paint on my face

Hi Amberle, how long have you had DQ with you now? BBCat has been with us 3 weeks and I am just taking things really slowly at the moment, just seeing friends and family, no groups yet - but finding out what's on locally. We are lucky though as we live in the centre of town so lots going on. Hope you find something that is just right for you both! :-)

Hi Amberle, It is a good time to be looking for groups/activities as a lot of them restart in September. Our local classes usually do free trials. I remember month 3 after Littlebee came home when she was about 13 months trying out tabby tunes, fruity tunes, sing and sign, Gymboree, musical express, monkey music and Tin pan Annie before deciding on one to continue! Also started swim lessons which was great for skin to skin contact and encouraging trust. Our local libraries also do rhyme time and story time and a free music class for free.
Is there a local 0-5's adoption uk group to you? I found a lot of the classes on the dreaded mumsnet. I never got on with our local playgroups ( I tried 3) as there seemed to be established cliques mainly of NCT friends and I lost count of the number of times I was asked about how long I breast fed for and if I had a natural delivery! I also found being in a structured class where I could concentrate on Littlebee easier for both of us.
Good luck and hope you find some good activities

Hi all. Thank you so much for the replies. So we have tried the local church ones ( the ones we know that are running) and sadly although the people are lovely the children attending are far older..and I found myself more time worrying about falling off toys, kids running around (DQ not fully walking yet so can't hold her own..) Anyway sing and sign has reduced to 1 class locally, we were on the waiting list ( and still waiting) so guess we missed this time round..
Will look at swimming as I think this is definately a good plan, for bonding and for trust amongst learning to swim etc etc..
DQ been here 10 weeks next week..so we can officially start the ao..too excited for words..xx

Shame about sing & sign. I am just about to start with babybee. Littlebee really enjoyed the classes and still loves watching the Sing and sign DVD's I would recommend the DVD's anyway (although they are a bit dated!) as you can still sit together to do the songs and actions.
Might be worth contacting them to make sure there isn't a place. Littlebee was on a waiting list for gymnastics and I phoned and they said they had emailed twice and tried to phone to offer her a place but I got nothing. Did take 9 months to get to the top of the list though!
Good luck with swimming. Littlebee now has lessons without me and I miss experiencing the lessons with her.
Also good luck with the adoption order. Hope it all goes smoothly for you and the wait isn't too long.

And so another month has passed (well 6 weeks) and not really sure where the time is going.. So quick update before I go and read / catch up with everyone else. X DQ is now walking, chatting( sometimes even making sense) lol has about 20 or so words in her vocabulary. And is still the most delightful, and perfect little person we could ever of wished for..even if she did not read the small print last night about the clocks going back..and decided 4 am was a good time to get up. Hey ho, thankfully it is not all the time. So last week, went to visit her nursery ..OMG she is too too little to be going to school..but we need to get her registered so she can go a couple of hours a week from September. The place is lovely and just perfect for her, the children are all very happy, the staff ratio to children is fab, and more importantly we turned up..off DQ wandered leaving DH and I and went and did some painting with the children there..lol for me the fact that she was relaxed helped massively.. So registration form filled in and will be hand delivered first things Monday. Court papers are in, so it is just a waiting game now ( I hope) for the process before AO is issued. We are expecting a contestment (is that Even a word? If not sounds good) so we know it could take awhile, but hey next stage is in progress..yahoo. Be back later, I am currently being lectured ( very stern face and she is pointing to the kitchen) so can only assume it must be time for lunch..lol. Xx
