Hello all,
Thank you for replies on my recent posting - " Don't know how to help her anymore".
Our AD attended CAMHS as an adolescent who eventually discharged her without any diagnosis - she was in LA Care at the time, in a care home and was S20. She is now 19 and ticks along but I believe she has ADD and a mild learning difficulty.
My question is how do I re-open the MH route of persuing enquiry to get her a diagnosis?
When she was at primary school she saw an educational physchologist who stated she was about 5 years behind. CAMHS stated she did not have ADD as she listened to them and looked them in the eye!!!
The awful things that have happened to her are because she does not learn lessons, she has juvenile criminal convictions she mixes with awful people and although she is doing a level one Health & Social course she struggles with learning.
She has a council flat, SS give her sporadic support - she has a "PA" who is obliged to see her once a month, but mostly everything falls on my and her Dad's shoulders to sort out. SS support ceases in a little over 12 months time when she becomes 21.
Do I speak to her Doctor or what other route is there?
Very many thanks for your time.
Spring x

I went with DS1 to GP for re referred him back to adult mental health.
Nowadays he engages when it suits but tends to just call crisis intervention team.

It's a tricky one Spring because she is 19 and is technically an adult so is responsible for herself and what happens to her.
Is she willing to co-operate with you on this?
I mean would she go along to an appointment at AMHS the adult version of CAMHS?
I don't know if this needs a GP referral or whether she can refer herself?
Why not speak to your GP yourself first assuming he/she knows your DD and ask their advice.

My daughter went to see her GP about getting referred. I think that's the easiest route but it does require the co-operation of your AD,
