Not the first time but he doesn't go to a lot. We have such lovely neighbours and friends where we live. Little girl up the road invited Dash to her party She is 8 he is 9 1/2 I suspect he will be playing a lot with her brother who is 3

Lovely. I know how it feels to have a child who doesn't get many invites. I am always grateful when my dd gets one and pleased she will grow up with memories of parties. Hope he has a great time.

He did have a lovely time thank you When I dropped him off I was trying to explain that I had intended to stay home in case I was needed, but had to go into town (re passport applications...that's another story!) I was saying he does get over excited at times and I hoped he would be okay Birthday girl's Mum said that she expected him to be like that and said 'don't forget DH's previous job was with special needs students'. I came away feeling a little sad that it was that obvious he has special needs. There's no pleasing some people...if people don't 'get it' that's a problem, if they do 'get it' it makes me sad Anyway I was telling DH about it and he was so pleased. He said you don't want people to brush you off saying 'he'll be FINE' (subtext......you are overanxious) but to say, I know he can be 'hyper'...no problem we can cope thats what you want! Its interesting because we have known the Dad's Mum for more than 10 years and then they moved in a few doors up. Our friend (Granny of birthday girl) had looked after a young girl for a few years after her Mum died (I think it must have been a Special Guardianship arrangement) It never ceases to amaze me the people who turn out to be really supportive and with some knowledge and experience

Oh how great that she "gets it" and wasn't phased at all. Think you should work on this friendship as she may be able to help with a little respite and vice versa. Delighted Dash had a good time and was able to entertain the little brother - Perhaps he could help out more often?

That's just lovely. It's so hard not to be anxious though isn't it? Xx

Glad it went really well! And what great psychological insights you had.
Love,
