We had excellent intros and keep in touch regularly with FCs via Skype and texts. Not met up yet, but I'm sure that will happen too.

NMT - how rude/ungrateful to not even acknowledge card/gifts, no excuse. I really hope for FCs where they can be an 'aunty/uncle' or 'grandparents' x

Our expectations and the reality around our foster carers were quite different....
We knew our FC quite well as we'd been respite carers for the kids for 18 months before they came to us permanently and we thought they would continue to have a positive role in our kids lives (eg similar to aunt/uncle or family friend). However it became apparent fairly early on that they were not able to let go of the kids and actually wanted to continue to be major players in their lives in an unhealthy way - including obviously favouring the youngest. They sent excessive presents for Christmas and Birthdays (a black bin liner full each time) and contact was disastrous. After discussions with SW we decided to cut contact with them. Sad but it was the bst decision for the kids at the time.
