I asked one of the other mums to pick Starlet up for me today - she lives near us so my intention was to meet them at her house straight away (my school finishes slightly later so I can't quite get there).
Got there, had a coffee while Starlet spent ages with her two kids. Invited us to stay for tea. Kids playing outside with scooters, bikes, sit on tractors...
Absolutely chilled out evening.
And then as if that wasn't enough, she has offered to do the same once a week to save me a night of after school club fees!
What a woman!

That is fantastic for so many reasons, but maybe mostly because you must be doing such a brilliant job as mum to starlet. How much she trusts and believes in you to know it's ok for someone other than you to pick her up.
I look forward to the day when Lapwing or Peewit have that level of attachment.

It's great. We have worked on it, it wasn't done cold. We have been to this family's home several times together and I started leaving her there while I "popped out for petrol" etc. Tonight she would have spent four hours there without me.
Following the posts about freedom for children, they live on a farm - all very free and easy with loads of space. Starlet loved every minute of it and will now look forward to Tuesdays when she gets to go there without me.
I do know how lucky I am - the seeds of secure attachment were there very early and Starlet is a wonderfully resilient, sociable little girl.
I do also echo what I have said before - when choosing a school, the right one is right for the parents as well as the child!

Ooohhh congratulations kstar...... Fantastic.... Brill for you too such a relief.... Feel free to exhale loudly & victoriously.....
As a farmer & mum I couldn't be happier for starlet.... She will love running 'wild' & there is still the wonders of hay making & maze cutting to go.... She will just love it.... I still remember today the wonderful summer smells from my young life on the farm.... Fresh cut hay & silage & later the smell of maize being cut.... Heaven......Not to mention sunshine & tractor riding!!?
Great Fun..... Well done to you both for preparing starlet to manage this great treat
Xxx. moo. Xx

What a legend, can I borrow her Seriously though, I live on the same road as my dad and my brother's family, they know the girls (george is too little and hasn't been with us long enough) well enough to pick them up if I'm caught up/ take them out for special one to one time, drop in emergency calpol/ milk. Having a reliable helper is soooo valuable!!
