Childcare during school holidays has been a bit of a nightmare for me since LO "outgrew" the nursery environment but isn't mature enough for youth club style, unstructured environments which traditional holiday playschemes tend to be.
Today BD and LO have been to an activity "camp" and loved it.
When I picked them up they were wet through and covered in mud, facepaint was dripping off LO's chin and neither of them stopped talking about their antics all the way home.
To some extent BD had been LO's carer for the day but the staff seem to get "it" and it worked.
So pleased.

Hi Flowerpower
It's a new, local venture run by a teacher who has previously worked in a special needs school. One of her children has ASD and another ADHD. She says that she believes that "a lot of energy , motivation , praise and support goes a long way with most children and activities get changed frequently to prevent boredom".
I was really impressed.
LO loves being outdoors (and is much calmer outside than in) so I was pleased when I arrived this morning to be told that the dreadful weather wasn't going to stop them doing all the activities they had planned (that was also great for LO who had memorised the programme to the nearest minute!).
Hope you're managing half term.
MMx

Serrakunda, think you would have loved it. LO had a go at slacklining today and archery. She's been outside all day and is exhausted. I think that the difference has been the structure - no free play time, constant activities and no deviation from what's expected. Also, the staff have been excellent - accepting and encouraging. She'll be expecting the same of the weekend now - best be ready for her at 5.45am tomorrow!
