In our little flat in Edinburgh, Simba spark out, I've got a glass of wine and packet of minstrels. Boat trip tomorrow, if he's not careful Simba will find himself swimming to the forth bridge, he's been very 'challenging' since Sunday, mummy is knackered and needs some peace and quiet

Have a lovely time. Only been to Edinburgh once and I really loved it there! Except it was cold and wet (often is, I have been told!). Hope you have good weather. xx

If you want to get your own back on Simba - take him on the spooky night tour of the city. I did it once on a friends hen weekend and it was great. (only joking though, might scare the carp out of Simba ).Enjoy your trip Edinburgh is lovely.

This is our second visit together, I've been several times pre Simba as we have friends here. But behaviour is really poor at the moment, just that relentless silliness, won't do what he's asked etc, that wears you down. The flat we have is really lovely and very wreck able by little boys charging round throwing teddy bears in the air.
We climbed Scott's Monument yesterday, mummy got pooped on by a low flying bird ( at least it didn't get in my hair)
Boat trip to forth bridge today, stop on the island, if you hear reports of 9 year olds being ejected from bird sanctuary , that will be us !

Well we are in one piece, just about. Boat trip and island were lovely, we saw lots of seals and had a nice picnic. Totally ruined by dinner, Simba sent a whole glass of juice flying, we had to move tables, we then had a huge argument about him using knife and fork and not fingers to eat with and then refusing to use napkin and wiping ketchup all over face with his hands instead. He started shouting and doing that horrible fake crying, totally disrupted the whole restaurant.
Have to say I am weary, I cannot say or ask him anything at the moment without having to repeat myself at least three times, if not more. He looks at me, then says pardon and I have to say it again, it's not just me , he was doing it at my parents as well, but it's just so tiring

Hope today is better for you - dinner last night sounded exhausting. Boat trip sounds fab though.
Also hope it's better weather there today for you than it is here in the very wet west country....

Edinburgh.....my birthplace I feel your pain with the restaurant episode.... We were once in lovely cafe once where Dash finished off his milkshake rather loudly sucking through a straw, doing that thing that ALL children do with the last of their drink. I have been known to do it myself 2 elderly ladies at the next table turned right around and gave us a withering look. If only they knew what he was capable of I'm afraid I made a comment rather loudly...hope they heard me!! A friendly lady in another cafe smiled at him and said 'Are you a bit of a fidget?' whereupon he roared at her ('that's a loud roar' she said) and bit DH on the arm (still in character). Anyway huge sympathy from me and I hope the change was as good as a rest (that's my new motto!) Larsti x

Zoo today, animals very obliging despite the swirling mist, mr panda sat munching away on his bamboo, mrs panda asleep, we saw the lions and big cats and very entertaining monkeys, and my personal favourite the meercats, who posed on their rocks like true professionals.
But I am exhausted, sometimes I just can't keep up with Simba's need for physical affection from me, and he is very demanding at the moment for hugs and the kisses, particularly when he's climbing all over me to get them, he's just too heavy, and he took a flying leap at me, hit my back, pushed me forward and I nearly toppled over a low barrier into one of the enclosures. Could have Ben interesting as I couldn't have climbed out and it was the giant anteaters which are fearsome. We stopped at lush on the way home and both have bath bombs for tonight. No more meals out.
Tomorrow we are going to tentsmuir Forest where my friend has a bothy, there is another single adopter coming so Simba will at least have a child to play with for the day. I think I need a week in a spa to recover!

Could you set up an activity that you can finish at very short notice and then if he acts up say that's it we're going back to flat and do it? Sometimes shock treatment works then after remind/reward every five minutes his behaviour? Although youngest son is not autistic his attachment disorder makes him act very similarly and this has worked for us. I did this a lot at placement and now rarely have to remind him. hope you have a better day!

Hope that you have a better more chilled out day tomorrow, hopefully having another child to play with will take the pressure off you to be number one playmate. Have fun.

Ohh serrakunda sorry to be late to this.... You sound so weary.... Sending you an aromatherapist to helps ease out the knots & help to relax you....
Glad you avoided an encounter with the anteater... Dire.... Relief no swimming from the boat too
Hope he was calmed by your friends visit & was able to engage with his fellow adoptee....
Hugs for you {{{}}}

Last night in Edinburgh, good day today. Simba had trouble with the word of bothy, so we have had jokes all day about Penny's ( my friend) botty. Penny's botty has been judged very exciting, we went down to the beach, went on the tree swing, the outdoor compost loo a source of great fascination, mummy's cob webs blown away, . Simba having take away pizza and watching Frozen. Mummy has a glass of 'pop'

Sounds like the informal surroundings and rugged nature is suiting him better. Glad it was a better day. You have all my sympathy, it's been just the same here on our own long weekend , including the physical clambering and climbing. Everything you've said I could have said too, though at least Kiooer is only 4 so smaller and less heavy.
Hope the rest of the trip goes ok.
