Hi all,
Think its about 15 weeks so a lot of time away but I have today bought our first Christmas Present for Blossom.... A Uke and a case.... we tend to get 1 bigger gift and then lots of stocking things.
the children/ teenagers seem to cope best this way.
wonder what you are thinking of (if at all) christmas wise? I love the SMELL and the LIGHTS around that time of year....

Ours are both scanning the Argos catalog for Xmas presents, but that is properly my fault as I gave it to them the other day to stop them fighting each other long list xx

sorry to annoy you all but I have done nearly all my Christmas shopping. I have a few internet things to get and Simba's big present and I'm done. Everyone I buy Christmas presents for also has a birthday between September and New year and there are two 50ths and a 70th this year as well. If I dont do it early it crippling and I hate the shops in December. I much prefer that smug feeling of knowing its all done when everyone else is running around in a frazzle in December. I dont count it in weeks, its two pay slips Simba is having a camera and a night in the hotel where we go swimming ( he's been agitating to stay for months) Mummy is getting the IPAD which she might share with Simba is he is good, and the complete box set of Fraser I love the smells and twinkly lights too. I like my twinkly lights so much they stay up all year

Serrakundda I'm with you most of my chrissie presents are bought. Got a lot off ebay this year from China so wanted to start early. Plus a lot in the sales January 2013 that is for Bubbles and Fizz they always need more clothes and you can get some good bargains at the end of winter. Also for baby bubbles, Mr Bubbles and DH using my Tesco vouchers. So Christmas isn't a huge expense. Have it all stored away in cardboard boxes under my bed Complete with list of who has what, because I will have forgotten come Dec Then I make DH listen to Christmas music while we wrap them mid December. Sad I Know.
Love all the twinkly lights too. In fact I bought myself the twigs with little lights on so I can enjoy them all year round. One of our family traditions is to all get together beginning Dec to help put up the decorations and have a meal. Have done that since the girls were young and try and keep it going even now they are in their 20's. Baby Bubbles usually gets the honour of putting the star on the top of the tree

Pear Tree!!!! I have been picking up Christmas stocking things for a while but not thought about big pressies at all yet. I think it was the first Christmas or birthday Dash was with us (they are close together!) that we bought him one of those red wagons with the handles. He has got such a lot of pleasure out of that Still plays with it now. So that's a pressy I would recommend...pricey but durable. He likes carting things around and another time we bought him a classic children's wheelbarrow, a metal one, but that fell apart eventually. Maybe this Christmas we will give him the DS he ordered for himself on the Internet last year

Its our first Christmas with Miss Pink..
Last year she was in Fc and didn't get that the presents and stockings that they had for her, were actually for her..
So, we aren't going mad. But will invest in a micro scooter for her. I've started getting bits for her stocking.
I am so looking forward to having our first Christmas together as a family. She is the best present we could ever wish for.

Its nice to start your family traditions Swimchic
I bought both Simba and me really nice big stockings and spent quite a lot on a very special nativity/advent calendar. Simba loves them, particularly the nativity and already talks about passing it on to his children

First Christmas for us here too! As Starlet's birthday is in January, I have also started buying (well tbh as the only grandchild, mum has done most of the buying, she can't help herself! But we will be at her house and all but one gift will be from Santa so I have just let her get on with it). We have mostly been buying add ons to what she plays with - Barbie clothes and accessories, Baby Born clothes and Lego. We have agreed to go for one main present, in betweeny gifts (some clothes, Lego, board games, jigsaws) and a stocking. As she also asked me what I would be buying her, we have decided to follow my cousin's tradition for her little girl - I will buy her some new Christmas Eve PJs and a nice Christmassy DVD which she will be allowed to open Christmas Eve so we can snuggle up together and watch in our new PJs!!!
It's s exciting :-) luckily for me, Starlet is well able to cope with the excitement, she thrives on it!

Blimey - finished already? ? Usually I would be with Meno but this year it's looking like there will be 3 of us So I need to get my skates on... I was going to make a a lot of presents this year but something tells me I won't have time... last year I bought lots on Folksy and they all exceeded expectations (plus they are British-made, generally hand-crafted and reasonably priced!) folksy.com/ Just ebaying loads of furniture so I have room for a tree

the mince pies have been in my local co-op for about 2 weeks. And a tree went up in my gym last week. This really annoys me, its not even October. I know I'm pretty much sorted but thats for financial reasons and because I cant bear the shops, putting trees and deccies up is just ridiculous

Our Christmas tradition is to each choose a new bauble for the tree.... To my amazement my boys can remember which ones belong to who & they are the first each year to go on the tree.... This year they will each have 5 before the run of the mill ones go on... WoW ......Amazing 5 ......

Hi all It's our first Xmas too and we are soooo excited! I asked as some of you may remember on the old AUK boards and was told keep it all low key, I appreciated all the advice and was planning small and simple... And then.... The FC has been telling the boys about us to prepare them for intros on Monday big blue (bill on here) said But can't we still have a big Xmas with a big tree and lots of fun things and lots of family for dinner... Now I know he could change his tune once here and there isn't just bill, Ben is also to be taken into consideration, he is a little more fretful at the moment but understandable as he is only 2 and doesn't full understand what's going on So do I go ahead as planned small and simple, family tradition of Xmas eve hamper (new pjs, slippers, hot Choc, Xmas DVD to watch before bed and an early selection box all wrapped in a box) followed by low key Xmas day just me DH bill and Ben, or do I go with FC advice keep go with what they know big and exciting? They have been with FC 19 months, she has had them 1 Xmas and said the build up and excitement from them was immense, they coped brilliantly apparently, I just don't want to go overboard and jeopardize the attachment building! But I also don't want to disappoint! ?Xx

I cant see what would be wrong with a big tree and a visit to Santa and what you have planned for Christmas eve sounds lovely. What do you mean by big and exciting?
I guess what I wouldnt do is introduce a whole lot of new people on Christmas day so I suppose it partly depends on how many people they have met by then.
We had our first Christmas last year and Simba's main concern was that Santa wouldnt know that he had moved. We wrote a special letter to Santa saying he had been a big brave boy and moved to a new family and gave his new address. We also had a chat with Santa when we went to see him - Santa was very good and reassuring
I also bought new, very nice stockings and a special advent calendar/nativity so its something we can use every year
