My Stig really struggles with change. He also worries when I am ill. On Saturday I wasn't at all well and had to make last minute alternative transport arrangements for Stig to get to his drama class. When my friend went to collect him two of the teachers rushed up to her and she was expecting them to tell her that Stig had been a pain. Not so! They'd both come to praise Stig's behaviour My friend took him out for the afternoon to give me a rest and she said that he'd been wonderful all afternoon. I was somewhat nervous about how he'd be on Sunday after he'd held it together so well on the Saturday but I needn't have worried - he was fab. This morning he asked my friend to be at our house when he gets home from school so, 'Mom can stay in bed and get better.' I'm so proud of him.

See he can rise to the occasion when he has to, which is great.
This is why I said on your other thread you need to build in some "me time" for you so that Stig gets used to you being unavailable at certain times, like we said on the other thread. If your friend came round one day after school or what ever, so you can do something for you and Stig knows it's your day. He can do it you know, as he's just proved and with practice he will do more, so that when you are sick or need a break you can leave him with your friend for a while.
Sometimes a break does us all good as we can miss each other and appreciate each other when we get back.

Well done Stig! And well done mum! That takes a lot to achieve when our kids struggle so much with us being ill and/or a sudden change to the plan.
Hope you're feeling better.

Yes it was lovely.
Jmk - I was at home at the time so Stig didn't have the additional worry that I wouldn't be here when he got home. I do intend to give some of the ides on the other thread a try though,
