Started his placement at the mainstream school today. One of his TAs was with him and she said he just went for it. Has already made a friend. He didn't seem too phased by the numbers and dealt with the home time chaos very well, though I saw him before he saw me and he did look relieved when he spotted me.
My first experience of the playground mums, I might have to learn Polish or punjabi though! Did run into one of the women who was on my parents course last year so that was nice.

So why do they have to spoil it? He has been relentless the last couple of days. I took him out to the tea shop for a treat after picking him up from school, one of those occasions when all the other customers are glaring at you for disturbing them.
He has now just broken the CD player, I must have told every day since he arrived not to play with it and sticking his fingers in the CD trays, it's now wrecked, and it wasnt cheap, he's constantly mucking about with remote controls for the tv and video and changing settings. I feel shattered, music is really important to me, I' ll need a new CD player, not great just after Christmas and got letter today for school residential which is £250
big sigh

Hugs serrakunda... Know exactly what you mean....
When is the trip??
I plan after April asking school to take the money from the £1.900 pupil premium.... Hope it will work.... Dreading all the money they keep requesting it is getting a bit steep.... Already had a begging letter & just been back 1 week.....
Bet they refuse!!! Ho hum lets just see shall we....
I know on the explanation of spending perameters on website social & visits was listed as a legit claimed expense!!!

.At our school for trips like that , they give us a lot more notice and allow us to pay by instalments. Have they given you That opportunity, if not maybe consider asking! It's an awful lot of money and for residential like that, you will find a lot of the children will not be going. You need to consider whether it is the right thing for him , a big wrench from you and he's only just started in that class? I don't know you, but In I assume he has special needs so they cannot exclude him because of equal opportunities but I think you should discuss it with them and it maybe best for them not to go. There will be plenty. more residential s for him to go on when he's older!! If you do decide you want him to go, it would be a good idea to approach the head and mention the pupil premium, but there will be strict guidelines as to what it can be.used. If not, if you explain your situation, I'm sure the school, might help you out or at least allow Payment over a longer time span in install, emits to suit you.

hugs serrukunda and simba, my first question to you is do you think he is ready for a residential trip, at £250 sounds like he would be away for a while, would he cope, its a new school, friendship groups most likely have already bee formed can he manage all of that and being away from you?
I would doubt he would be the only one not to go, and normally for these trips a lot of prep goes into them nivolving the parents and children, March is very close. Of course only you know what he can realistically do, and if he can manage then sometime away could give you a bit of respite.

The residential is with his main special school, he was desparately disappointed that he didn't get to go last year but he hadn't been away from me then. We've been practising as lot since the , two camps without me and halfterm stay with nanny, and he will go again in February. He wants to go so much, it is four nights but I do thinks he will cope. I can pay in installments and I thinks they are going to try and subsidise it. Maybe all those lovely funds that are supposed to become available when they became academy.
I'm not too badly off financially, it's just everything comes at once doesn't it. We are out with his trainer this morning, always helps with his bebehaviour
iinteresting what you say about looking with eyes not fingers Toke, this is a big problem , he is still very toddlerish in shops grabbing at thing and wanting to fiddle with lottery machines etc, particularly as everything gravitated towards his mouth
