Garden sounds great Larsti. Gardening is very theraputic. I love being down on the allotment on my own. But it's also been great for me and Simba. Today we planted the spuds and through great teamwork built out a polytunnel. We had a great time, figuring out the plans and instructions, I would have struggled to do it without him and he's really proud of himself. We have lots of really useful chats about life and the universe down there.
Maybe you and dash could have done joint projects ?

Dash is going to have veg patch (raised bed) in new garden Serrakunda.
Also started last Wed at the farm buddies placement. I will post about that but one of the things he did was plant potatoes :-)

wishing you many serene moments in your new garden Larsti - would be bereft without a space to dig and grow - rummaging amongst the offerings at a local plant fair always a little bit of therapeutic downtime too ?

Thanks Mayan :-) There is an elderly chap in our village who sells plants on Fridays and Sundays. He puts a selection outside his house but you can wander up the garden where he has several greenhouses. Always good to have a look.....quarter of the price of the garden centre too!

We were lazy today, took Lapwing and Peewit to a new soft play venue, it overlooks the sea and has magnificent views for the grown ups.
I read the whole of the Saturday Guardian ( first time in about a year) drank two very nice cups of coffee made by someone else other than me, and generally felt like a grown up! The glorious setting and availability of coffee means this could become a weekend treat once in a while. Kids go wild while we kick back and enjoy.

Oh yes mudlark! You must do that again....everyone happy! One of the things I usually hate about those places is that in my experience they are like big warehouses. No windows That one sounds lovely though

I am on R and R staying in farm cottage near the horse. After life saving Big Fish all week he's well enough to go for three nights respite and Little Minnow at home with my sister. I have slept, read books and ridden out twice today. Tomorrow the same before going home at 7 for LM. I get Big F back at 3.30 on Monday. Much needed and I feel no guilt.

Well some medical type things. Finally got the blood test I was supposed to have in the summer. Having asked a locum about blood pressure which was on high side despite already taking meds (not too high but creeping up) he prescibed an additional medication and said have a blood test before starting it. Several months later..... Booked appt with usual dr to see what she says and get results of blood test. When having bloods done, nurse said due for smear again (how come they come round so fast!) so will make an appointment for after DD's wedding. Got a letter saying I will soon be invited for bowel scope screening. Its a thing in some parts of the country for 55 year olds. No history of bowel cancer in the family but after a brief Google, decided when the letter comes I will have it done..... . No brainer really. Went to the hygienist (sparkly teeth!) We need to look after ourselves folks

Oh and bought a couple of new casual garments, but a bit smarter than I would usually wear. A gilet with a some faux fur (not usually very me but it looks good!) and a Regatta coat in a teal green (usually go for purple and pink shades) which has fleece lining. So more of a coat than an anorak. And booked a double entry book keeping course with the National Extension College to start after the wedding. I need a project to look forward to! Maybe I will be able to volunteer to be a treasurer for a charity or something like that. Again not my usual sort of thing. Who else has something to report?

Today I had my eyes tested - I've been putting it off for months due to lack of time and worry about taking LO with me. Managed to escape for an hour this afternoon and feel a big weight lifted having been told I need reading specs! Now to choose a set of frames which are indestructible to little fingers!

ooh I bought myself a 'posh' coat last week. not the usual 'utility'' puffer, down filled, stavevoff the arctic blasts, that I usually buy
a proper, smart coat, people at work comented on how nice it was. Actually a bargain from Sainsburys!

I'm away for two nights again!!!!! small b and b near the horse. LM happily enjoying all the attention of Aunty G, Big F at respite. Shock - they have managed to find staff!!!! So rode in glorious sunshine, now in pyjamas in front of telly, able to 'net' to my delight, with no worrying about being somewhere else now! I have driven to and from school for 25 hours this week, stuck in carp roadworks most days, slept (lay) on a mattress on the floor in Big F's bedroom for 5 nights, etc etc and now relax!

Little minnow at Scout Camp, Big fish out with carers for first time in new van and I took the horse to watch some pony logging for a couple of hours then went back and sat around the campfire with a load of men who have their own woods. Spontaneous and refreshing!

Well I now have a personal trainer Sounds very posh but it's just a lady in the village whose garage has been converted into a gym. I go twice a week for an hour. I figured now dash is at school we are not pay I g out for the weekly farm visit or the one to one swimming lesson. He goes to a swimming club now instead. So I spent some pennies on me. I am much more motivated to go than if it was just an exercise class. I can't cry off at last minute if I am in a rush or just don't feel like it. I enjoy it and we have a good chat too.

I am assuming that everyone is so busy with their pampering appointments, shopping expeditions, exercise classes and educational courses that they are too busy to post Me, I am doing so much for myself at the moment that I was saying to DH I feel like I have 'retired'. I mentioned it to DD (aged 18) and she said 'retired from what???' Cheeky.
Well I will tell you what....28 years of being a parent. The youngest BC is 18 and that is surprisingly freeing. Obvs parenting is lifelong and 2 of our BCs are needing support. !8 year old is still at home (doesn't want to go to uni).
And Dash will need support well into adulthood but we will find the right situation for him. He's more settled than he has been. Long may it continue.
About 25 of those years have been spent either home educating (9 years) or helping/teaching as a volunteer at 2 small schools and 3 different home ed co-operatives. Plus all the family and church stuff of course.
Oh I digress. Anyway this time last year Dash was only just starting at school fulltime and his school was closed on a Friday afternoon. And then I was asked to pick him up from school instead of coming home in taxi (I know that's normal for a lot of people!) so really I had no afternoon.
This year...taxi both ways and school hours have increased to include Friday afternoon. I feel less frazzled.
Have come off anti-depressants. Continuing with personal trainer twice a week. See DD and grandson one day a week (a joy!) Have started an RHS course at local agricultural college (RHS level 2 in practical horticulture) and signed up for level 2 theory course by distance learning. Still doing the cat fostering.
What are you all doing?
