I went on a 5 mile walk with the dog and enjoyed the autumn colours and tried to catch falling leaves

I try to do a long bike ride every week. I've got up to 30 miles, and I've been losing a pound a week since I've started.
Unfortunately my wheel broke and Kermit had to come and rescue me.

Oh I like these posts, jealous trying not to be! of facial...massage...chocolate..which singer songwriter was it elderberry? Sounds lovely. So for me, I have reserved a reduced cost annual membership at the New sports centre opening right opposite our street. Out of our budget at moment but even so but it's a part of my fit/stress plan to swim daily and find myself before I disappear on planet adoption with fiery balls of asteroid heading our way.. Proximity of centre leaves no excuse, it's a far cry from our family beginning seven years ago, 30 mins drive away from a pool in rural bliss.

Lankelly, if there is a 'luxury' I will not give up its my gym membership, it has saved my sanity on many occasions, I've made a good friend there, it's my space. And the coffee shop is a haven !
Good for you,

Today my bike came out of repair shop and I rode it to a meeting 're childminding then home... feeling that gleeful sense of freedom that comes with two wheels or a sail. Not cycled regularly for a decade,(the flat lands of Cambridgeshire, unfortunately we now live on a long steep hill in the Peaks.! Now where's the nearest boat club, ?I want to raise a sail.!

Went to an aquarium.
Saw young ladies taking selfies with turtles. (Don't get selfies: never been tempted to get a picture of myself obscuring something interesting).
Watched penguins being fed and had chat to their keeper afterwards.
Saw jellyfish being fed - a first for me!
Sat in cafe while the wind whipped the sand along the prom.
And all without any of our kids, but with Kermit, my favourite person in the world!

We had a child free 24 hours - went to a local city, did a bit of sight seeing and shopping, Xmas party night, overnight in a hotel and then lazy Sunday morning before picking kids back up about lunchtime.... First night off on over a year (had to cancel the last two times and Storm Desmond and transport issues tried to stop us this time, but we still went!).

Have been to cinema with a good friend twice in last 3 weeks.....Suffragette and The Lady in the Van.
Went to Xmas 'do' of a professional organisation DH belongs to. Had a lovely evening
Yesterday evening met up with 6 other ladies who live in my road. We all contributed to a lovely meal and I made a new recipe for the starter. We try to meet up a few times a year but apparently it had been a whole year this time So all resolved not to leave it so long next time! Left feeling blessed to be part of that group of lovely ladies. All busy in our own ways and all very different.

Lankelly, sorry it took me a month to see your question about the singer-songwriter. His name is Sam Baker, he comes from Texas. He's a bit of an acquired taste, I think, but he makes me very, very happy. He's also the nicest guy in the world -- he's very liberal with his hugs -- and a poster boy for overcoming adversity and making a life out of what you're given.

Celebrated my birthday by having lunch out with my friends. We've not been able to get together for weeks due to foster children and work. Great to see them, and grand to talk non stop for two hours with people who get it and know the back story. Dear DH ferried, and even shared a coffee at the end

I am sat in Maccie D's eating an egg mc muffin without the bacon and a toffee latte. Feeling quite virtuous as back on 5:2 and it's starting to take affect. Just about to finalise new kitchen before goingm to another care team meeting to talk about ..... Transport.

Been out with friend and horses on trailer over to Weardale. Rode along glorious stone and grass miners tracks, up and down hills in glorious sunshine, listening to my friend's tales of her erratic lovelife! Brilliant! and for an hour I was without phone reception. Terrible but actually lovely that no one could phone up about any services, or lack of, to do with Big Fish!

A lady in our church died a while ago, leaving behind a part-finished patchwork quilt full of memories that she had been making for her daughter. Kermit took it and finished it off. We'd not expected anything in return but the lady's widower bought us a package at a hotel. So we spent the night in a suite at a 5 star hotel. We had a four poster bed, bottle of champagne (shame neither of us drink) and a rose on Kermit's pillow at turn down time. Probably the best meal that I've ever eaten in the evening. (Quail to start; red mullet on crab linguine; a beautiful tarte tatin with gorgeous creme fraiche ice cream, plus complimentary canapes, smoked mackerel pate and a blood orange sorbet between the starter and the main course).
Wish I was rich: I could live with doing that again!

DH and I went for a posh meal to celebrate 30th anniversary
When we go out we usually like to go to theatre or cinema but we both said we should eat out more.
We went to a Rick Stein fish restaurant and everything was absolutely delicious. We had 3 courses which we don't normally do. Fab!
Also I have done some gardening. I have always liked watching/listening to gardening programmes, visiting gardens, reading about gardening, but not really done much.....too overwhelmed with the inside of the house at times.
The new house had a large patch of empty earth at the front. No idea why. Previous owners must have weeded it but there was nothing growing there. Now there are clumps of aubretia, 6 pots of tulips (not in flower will be red), a couple of forsythia bushes and a dogwood, some lily of the valley and some bargain tete a tete daffs. Today I bought three hardy geraniums in packets. Dash helped me dig in some grit and 'organic matter' first and helped plant a couple of things but I was glad when he got fed up and went indoors so I could have some solitude
