Lovely to read your intro's Daisy, but do try and remember that Dewey spitting at you is probably just his way of dealing with the stress of everything and is not a personal attack on you. He is only two and is not able to verbalise his stress and worries and spitting may be his only way of showing how distressed he is feeling.
It might be a good idea to re-read Imp's post about "Intro's and Beyond" if you haven't done so already. Plenty of time to sort out unsavoury behaviours when they are a little more settled.

Hope all goes well tomorrow. Just after our LO came home we had the same - never at me but everywhere else - once in my wellies. It was a sign of his anxiety but I found it v difficult. We tried explaining we did not do it in our house etc etc but it was to no avail. It was also testing boundaries - I think with hindsight. The only thing that worked was not reacting and ignoring it. All was ok after about a week of no reaction to it but he suddenly did it out of the blue again at nursery last week! seems to have been for one day there though. It's horrible I know.
Good luck 2 / 3 can be tricky ages as I well know.

So pleased that on the whole it has gone really well for you. I am sure tomorrow will be an emotional but wonderful day as you start your 24/7 with your boys.

Thanks JMK great advice. It's so hard this parenting malarkey especially with two little munchkins who have come with their own pasta and everything else! I think we need to sit back And revise approaches this morning as we followed FC advice of be firm with Dewey more as he is younger and doesn't really understand moving!
So we have been more patient and accepting of Regression from Huey knowing he understands what is going on! Bad move on our part and I feel a little cr@p on reflection for it but I'm still learning too and will change approach as of this morning. Will speak with Donald when he rises so we are on the same page!
Thanks to everyone for your fantastic support and responses on here you are all truly amazing!
I can't wait to hear more about baa and swueak and all other adopters little ones! Ill be present on more of the other posts once settled, and I am Enjoying reading everyone else's intros! Spideress it will soon be you my lovely! Chin up as I know you are a bit fed up at the mo! You know my number if you fancy a chat! Xx

See Daisy, forgetful and all that, you are already sounding like a Mother and guess what that memory never comes back! I'm sure you'll be fine, just take it slowly and remain calm and you'll get there eventually, remember it's a marathon not a sprint and you are just at the starting line.

Their own pasta? Wow lol... Till I realised it was a typo.
I would ignore any further spitting and get a bit quicker at opening the stair gates! Haven't you got those sussed yet? I had to carry twin boys aged 3 through stair gates for months having held onto a wee for hours but unable to put them down... Less fluid is the trick! Hehe only teasing.
You're doing great.

Ok, so today has seen mummy have to finish off an emergency order for a bride who gets married next week! She had under ordered her favours, so I was less than impressed but hey these things are sent to test us
So Donald took Huey and Dewey to soft play for 2 hours then brought them home for lunch! We had a lovely lunch together and then played with all of Huey's new toys!
Tea was their favourite, homemade cottage pie followed by yet MORE birthday cake! Bedtime went too smoothly! I was expecting it to be hurrendous, but both listened to their story (we read stick man tonight) for anyone who hasn't read this with a child under 8 please please find and read its my favourite! Anyway after story they wanted their talking tomy books we made them. They had them for five mins and then it was snuggles and kisses and that was it, we haven't heard another peep!
Now bare in mind in my first time neurotic mum moment we bought a baby monitor, it's plugged in and I was like "Donald are you sure it is working" yes it's working but the boys are fast asleep!
So daisy and Donald have a full night of us time, and all we want to do is sleep! Lol! Xxx

It has got to be one of the absolutely most weird things knowing that you are in your house and upstairs your children are fast asleep, I wonder how much shut eye you will get tonight :-)
Congratulations on what sounds like a really wonderful day xxxxxxx

Ok so I can honestly hand on heart say I love our boys to the moon and stars and back again! BuT I'm in desperate need of some shut eye!
Donald has been amazing so I told him to get a short sleep to catch up whilst I took the boys for their haircut believe me it was desperate!
They were both horror bags and as much as we have been told they don't sleep in the day I as their mummy can see they needed it! So two lengths of a short motorway near us and they are flat out! I'm sat here with a nice brew and some ginger biscuits taking in 10 mins peace and quiet whilst I watch them through our side window! Don't panic anyone we have a side window in our lounge and the car side window is about a foot away from the lounge window so I can see them crystal clear, a bit of peace for us all to regroup and breath!
Daisy! Xx

I can sympathise Daisy - ours doesn't have on afternoon nap - but falls off nicely to sleep after 15 mins in the car most of the time - and will fall asleep in buggy if after lunch. We had our first put to bed tonight which seemed to go fine - but rela test will be after he moves in as you have found. Congrats on getting them moved in anyway.

Hi Daisy, I just wanted to say I've absolutely loved reading your diary! I hope you've printed out a copy for your boys when they're older. (I especially loved the bit about their own pasta!! Wouldn't that be a fantastic idea? Personalised pasta? I think I'd pick little wine glasses for me....)
I sympathise totally about the spitting. It absolutely disgusts me and unfortunately I've cared for a couple of little spitters. Don't be surprised if it gets worse before it gets better. I found the best advice I was given was to totally blank the child after they did it - tell them you are very, very sad at what they've done then move away for several minutes. Obviously you can't do this yet!!
You're also very brave taking TWO boys to get their hair cut on your own! In my experience hairdressers are places of dread with kids - so much so that I only ever brave it one at a time! Well done for surviving.

Well we are expecting the spitting to reoccur but today has been much better!
Last night after a somewhat perfect bedtime routine say Huey wake at 4:20am he wanted snuggles and couldn't sleep I suspect he just wanted to test my reaction and I'm a softy so in he climbed for snuggles! Dewey woke at a much more respectable time of 6:55am, that I can live with!
After the afternoon nap bedtime was slightly more challenging as neither were "tired"! We stuck to normal routine, and listened to the boys chat away on the monitor it was lovely but challenging as Dewey wanted to be in and out, dance, pull the baskets off the changer unit, throw teddies at Huey, I decided some comfort may help so I sat next to the bed stroking his little head! And an hour later he drifted off!

Hi munchkinsmum I have just spotted your above comment and now I can stop worrying about not seeing you posting! I have been hoping your intros are going well! And as for intros haha, they were a doddle compared to week 1 of the 24/7! The boys are amazing but boy are they hard work!
We have faced many challenges in the last 7 days the latest one is an attention seeking cough! Huey has lacked attention today as a result of some of Dewey's outrageous behaviour, and now it's payback time! This cough occurs when he has done something wrong and accompanies a silent state when spoke to like he is a rabbit in the headlights, bless! He is getting much better and bonding well, I think bonding is a more appropriate word right now than attaching as I suspect the attachment will take some what longer! But the coughing is becoming a little annoying so I'm counting to 10 taking a large gulp of wine and will pop in for a huggle!

Hey daisy.... Glad things are going well... My two used to flag a bit after lunch.... I fought myself to let them stay up... A trip to the park always worked, they raced & played & the fresh air helped. Tea time then was a bit niggly... But bath & then early bed meant great down time for me & deep sleep quickly for baa & skweek.... They slept the clock completely around + one hour usually.... If I gave in & let them sleep after lunch then it was always a good hour before they slept at night once they got into bed (even when they went to bed an hour later than without after lunch nap!!!!! )
You will find their level.... Such joy reading your update......

Well I know it's still early days and we do expect more dips to come but today has been a massive high! Both have been really good, I took them to the library to join and get some books, then for a pointless wonder around the shops to allow Donald to finish painting the fence. A sausage roll sat on the bench outside Gregg's where the funniest thing ever happened, a little bird came and pecked Huey's sausage roll, it scared him half to death. We had full on water works but it was a good opportunity for mummy to soothe him, reassure him and give big huggles! It also allowed mummy to show Huey he could trust her as she stamped her feet wildly to keep the pesky birds at bay!
We then attempted our first ever asda trip just mummy and both boys, I've just took one before now leaving the other with daddy but Huey minded mummy purse and Dewey the car keys, we got pizza for tea and headed home, an afternoon of outdoor play with their new cousin whom is much older but whom they loved playing with has led to a DVD night (tree fu magic- it's pants for Anyone interested) and pizza sat on the rug, it's the only night we eat in the lounge not at the dining table!
Now this perfect little day is a big high for us it's the first day both have been settled for the full day! Lets see how bed time goes! Xx

Awe toko how cute re : tiger mama!
I'm bragging a little today (as I sit outside tesco rather sleepy) we had our second sw visit last wed and sw said she had yet to see another sibling group settle as quickly as Huey and Dewey appear to have! Now both officially sleeping 13 hours a night, yes pushing boundaries but the cries for FC have completely stopped now that we have repeatedly told them they are here forever no more moves to live with new people and we have also created our own little story for Huey to help him understand the moves he has had using characters from his favourite cartoons!
Daisy is one happy lady at the moment! Xx

Wow Daisy & Donald, that sounds really positive; yes there'll be ups and downs, you know that, but for the SW to say that is fantastic news and must be reassuring for the immediate and long term future for you guys and the boys, super. x

Wow... Well done Daisy.....
How proud you must be.... Long may it be for you....
Skweek still likes to hear the story of a Mummeee !!! He often wants it as his bedtime story still to-day....
It seems to make him happiest when his favourite soft toys take it in turns to tell the story!! ...

Hello I hope you don't mind but I've been sharing your blog posts with my adopted son Partridge He's 18 now and lanky 5ft 11 But once upon a time he was a timid little fella who was 6 going on 7 He can't remember much of intros So it's been helpful for me to chat through your experiences and how much you were locked in from the get go So, perhaps an unexpected audience but an appreciative one
